Hello Annette, so pleased you are better now- have really missed your videos too. I love channels that put the names of plants on screen. It is really helpful and I hope others agree. It might be then lack of water is due to blocked dripped holes in your drip tubing. I wanted to instal drip hose but my hubster said our water is too hard and the lime would block the holes after a season's use, so I have to hand water the whole garden which takes me 2 hours daily and I only do a section at a time. This Summer my plants have needed so much more than I am able to provide in the time I have, especially as I have the allotment to water too. I dead headed my 'Esprit' penstemons , which I grew from seed, but to date it hasn't re bloomed. Whether this variety is once flowered I don't know? I hate tidying the ground after I've dead headed and the debris sometimes sits on the ground until my hubster moves it- lazy me. I don't know why I don't like doing it- I really must try and have a different mind set, lol! Currently I have a pile of dahlia heads on the gravel- oops! Loved seeing your grass/dahlia border- thank you so much for sharing. Make sure you get plenty of rest and don't get overdoing things. Give yourself time to heal fully. Take care. Happy gardening 🙂 x

Hi Be! I've missed you all 😊 Yes, I agree, I think we need to check the irrigation pipes this weekend. I need to get it sorted as we have a few more months of warm weather (hopefully). I'm just the same with the debris of garden work - and Richard does get a bit fed up. My excuse is that I don;t want the weeds on the compost heap - so I dump the weeds and only put the compostable debris in the bucket. Thank goodness Richard is such a tidy person! 😁

I love that you put the names of the plants up because I don't know the half of them! And it's very useful. Despite having lost you to the virus, your garden has done very well. Mine is looking very tired now. I have been dead heading but it hasn't encouraged new growth. I think the weird summer weather has really done a number on my garden. Too wet, too cold, too hot, too dry, too windy. Shuffle and repeat. And I'm working in a bed that was a building site 2 summers ago and I don't think there are any nutrients left to be had in the soil. I need to get mulch and food into it somehow. I hope you feel much better soon. These things knock us for six as we get older. Viruses are horrible. You must not push yourself. I have a long term chronic lack of energy due to hypothyroidism that has not responded well to any medication I take for it. It's horrible. I start off with grand plans and have to count myself lucky at the end of the day if I've managed a 1/4 of it. Your garden is looking lovely and the colours are wonderful. I planted 6 new Peter Beales roses this summer and 5 of them now have blackspot, yellow leaf and shedding! So sad about that and clueless as to why and what I need to do about it.
@cottoverdiАй бұрын
Thanks so much Sue. It's been so sad to see that I lost almost all my Snaps to rust - I've had to pull them out. We really have had to oddest weather and it's just messed with the natural rhythm of things, I think. I've also had so many issues with black spot this year and it just makes me want to cry, especially the James Galway roses on the fromt of the house. I hope you can get your medication sorted. There's nothing worse than lack of energy when we just want to get things done! And yes, Mulch, mulch, mulch. It'll work wonders. 😁🌸🌱
@suewilkinson910Ай бұрын
@@cottoverdi I walked past the leading garden in the village for roses yesterday. She has a beautiful stone wall with all sorts of roses showing above it. All of the bushes have black spot. If her garden is full of blackspot then at least I know it's not my lack of care that's done it. She has a very good gardener working for her. To cheer myself up (also have a tooth issue this week that is given me severe nerve pain in my left jaw and can't be seen by my dentist in a timely manner!!! What's the use of him then?!) I bought a pair of the snips you use. Using secateurs to deadhead perennials etc is cumbersome and slow. They have just arrived. Despite the wind having picked up and thunder predicted and the stink from the muck spreading around the village, I'm going out to deadhead with new snips. It will be enjoyable. I will try not to look at the blackspot. I think I'm going to take the lupins down to ground level too. They are awful looking. Pale, yellowish and covered in lupin fly! I hope your husband gets all the bigger tasks sorted for you this weekend.
@suewilkinson910Ай бұрын
@@cottoverdi Also, I'm sorry about your snaps. They were magnificent. I didn't even know they could get rust.
@cottoverdiАй бұрын
Yes, such an annoying trait. I tend to get rust on them each year to be honest so it wasn't a surprise to me and that's why I tend to pull them rather than leave them to perennialise each year. For me, Snaps are short season, earlies no matter what I do!
