Since 2007, TakaraTomy began using Optimus Prime in all future incarnations, including G1 for consistency. The dub for Animated even joked about it in the first "next episode" preview.

it's a bit confusing, given that the Diaclone line was re-marketed as the Transformers outside of Japan (among other toy lines), and that this is basically Optimus Prime being brought back home under the Diaclone brand. I guess you can call this coming full circle.

Diaclone was dropped and transformers imported back by takara and Optimus is call Convoy in Japan, the name of this toy just adds confusion but I’d really like to see a Diaclone crossover with Transformers

If Optimus Prime (aka Convoy from the Super Robot Lifeform) crosses over to this far future universe he will meet the Battle Convoy Mech(and it will be grey black) and its pilot revealed to be Ginrai or in this case Ginrai's counterpart. Optimus talks with Ginrai and asks how did humanity created their own transforming technology Ginrai simply tells the technology was created after they discovered a new energy source showing the fuel and optimus immediately recognises it as raw energon. Optimus asks Ginrai if his Mech Battle Convoy has any malfunctions while in robot mode, Ginrai answers Optimus that all the mechs cannot hold robot form for too long and must always transform to avoid malfunction wasting the fuel but their enemies the Invaders Warudos dont have such an issue. Optimus suspicion was correct and the technology even if advanced for combat, humanity didn't created the technology or the means to process the raw energon and simply explained to Ginrai that such a thing is like a human holding raw plutonium without any means to protect themselves from radiation poisoning. A battle begins Optimus is injured severely his body cannot function so Ginrai installs Optimus matrix and consciousness into the Battle Convoy mech acting as the Mech's Ai(giving color to the mech) and both begin a journey back to Diaclone HQ to change the course of the war with the aliens standing their way. Hows that for a potential crossover anime plot?

Interesting that you chose Ginrai as the representative of Diacloneverse. I always thought Takara was flexing their Diaclone muscles back in 1988 with the Super-God Masterforce toyline and anime series, which even back then felt like a "reboot" of sorts.

Diaclone did have a US release, unofficially. This was mainly in Hawaii... in the 1980s... through importers... I had a few as a kid. They were generally a bit less expensive than official TRANSFORMERS.

Takara initially tried 1983 to bring Diaclone and Micro Change to America as Diakron, though it wasn't successful, since Takara simply didn't have at the time resources or money to compete in the US market, so they needed a partner. After Takara and Hasbro partnered up to bring the Car Robots and Micro Change molds as Transformers, Takara then tried to sell the Diaclone and Micro Change toys that Hasbro didn't use as Kronoform, but it also didn't succeed.

It's lovely, to be sure, as are all the pieces in this modern line, but after purchasing the first several sets, I came to the realization that if I continued, I would have to give up collecting Transformers, He-Man, and pretty much everything else I collect to afford it. The little mech suits alone were over 40 bucks a pop! Great stuff, but prohibitive in price.
