Incredibly high praise, even as they agree that he isn't the best player. Even so, being known as one of the most innovative players, such that it amazes all the pros, must be incredibly gratifying on its own. He is literally being acknowledged for uncovering the hidden tech that enriches the game as a whole; a fighting-game-scientist that provides further tools and depth to the game. Fantastic.

To all the people that are salty about them always talking about Punk and not Idom, in my opinion the reason is very simple. Idom is a very strong character specialist but Punks strenghts lie in him being very strong at the game in general wich is just way more impressiv.

Idom is a great player and deserved to win Capcom Cup, but there is no comparison. As they said, Punk is a genius, and is the greatest US player. He terrifies the best players in the world to the point where they spend months drilling themselves to deal with him.

Also, Idom didn't start getting popular until like 2019 correct? Punk and Smug have both been to Japan I believe or at least been in face to face competition with Japanese players. So they will them/recognize them way faster than they would Idom who they haven't had a chance to meet. I remember Smug going to Japan when he got famous for his Dudley. He was destroying everyone. It took a First to Ten for Daigo/Japan to figure him out. But he earned all of their respects by doing that. I truly believe they invited him out there just to spar/learn. I have yet to hear about Idom doing any of that only because of covid.

Punk is all improvisation and when hes like that he's deadly , and will create some shit to kick your ass with His reaction time and reads are perfect . BUT i will say he suffers from grand finals burnout . Either he just gets caught up in a bad match up and doesnt want to switch because he feels hes good enough to win , and he is . But that pride lost a couple of Poison matches where Karin had no buisness being there .OR he'll just be on auto pilot .

Considering the amount of time it takes even the most skilled players to do a super input, and then adding a frame or two of native delay on top of that...I’d have to see it to believe it so it’d be great if you had a link or video title. That aside, whiff punishes can be read based as well as reaction based. That’s what counterpokes and baits refer to. For example, a Urien might notice a Ryu player has a habit of throwing out crouching medium kick whenever he does a negative on block normal mid screen. As a read, that Urien player can do a crouching or standing medium kick at the very tip of Ryu’s cr. mk range, and then preemptively walk back out of said range and hit cr. mp.

@Uzumaki.9
@Uzumaki.9 2 жыл бұрын
At their level that's probably true. It's hard to pull off and requires lot of focus like daigo said. Opponents can easily bait the whiff punish by mixing in feints and or staying just out of range. Maybe even just straight walk up and throw if he is not pressing anything. And that will happen because too much focus is given to doing that hard whiff punish.

True. But its difficult compare styles and innovation in boxing with same things in SF, cuz like u say, Floyd art comes from defense and lot of fight he won was cuz his awsome defense style even when i don't like that kind of style. Floyd had no a big punch and no need it at all, just hit to get some points and then use his art defense and 'tricks'. In game defense its just 1 part of game plan, you can't just defense yourself and hit in ocations, need take all advantage from mistakes or make you move to do max damage at once. I think boxing in real life have more tacticals and technicals things to explode than game, maybe if game have rounds of 30 sec can be more similar to boxing rounds, with a amount of health restore per round.

It’s not about combo. They were talking about his shimmy hit confirms. Normal human should not be able to use shimmies and actually react to their opponents moves. Well, I can imagine punk would do that good in fighting japanese players. I mean all of japanese players are actually labbing every character's match up right? But punk is destroying this knowledege they have amass, and fighting them as they dont know what is happened and confused at what they should do at the time

That's what make him great. His ability to adapt try new things. pushing the game boundaries which is what franchise needs . All the character buffing on console is lab learn killer . Lets be honest . I use to play sagat a lot SF2-SFV. Sagat buff every single edition to the point of no power in his Footies or moves. I quit plAying because of the buffing.. I Moved on in life . So People know Punk or whom ever play certain characters. Complain to dev, we need buff. Just so they can beat such character in power. With Or certain moves. Its a petty cycle, that really needs to stop. Its like me I can't beat Diago. Guile. But here I'm going to Complain to capcom to the point of buff Guile.Now his best strike %2 dmg and it can parried counter for 25%dmg, Just a example here . Its destroys the lab, the dedication to the game so some guy who as some good ability can pull cheap counter to win ., one less move to use. This is life and death in the highest levels of the game ,one less move. . . a lot are labbing to beat Punk. Not the Diago or etc of the world when they should be yes the Japanese players .. Some may say adapt. After awhile there nothing left to adapt Too call Capcom for buff😂. But in all seriousness ,You have to innovate ur play ,gain Punk is above all else in this aspect . Remember Sakura &Ken where not all that great in SF series to use .Now they clean house. Till the buffs😔. Punk is good because he knows how to adapt& Innovate and most importantly he just has fun tryung new things none easy to perform at highest levels . Beating him is possible. We all lose to Sometimes . But the skill and knowledge of new things behind him you won't beat that. He is teacher of the era pretty much. Good for the franchise good for the new era . I think if he got more a little more wilder and parry , he would never lose. He is scary good to watch.
