The combo drop didn't change everything. Superficially yes, but looking at it more analytically, the pressure Yuuvega put him under throughout the entire match caused him to drop the combo. It is wrong to say that yuuvega only won because kotaka dropped his combo. It was the inevitable outcome of a sustained war of attrition expertly waged by the veteran. Yuuvega handled the pressure differently, he stayed strong throughout, his execution was always flawless, his energy always calm . Yuuvega is simply the better player and always will be. In fact all the japanese golden era masters were better than kotaka. Kotaka is operating in a different time, a softer time beating veterans who whilst still great are old men. Split seconds are the difference between winning and losing and reactions slow down with age. The veterans were great when it mattered. Daigo might be held up as the exception to the rule but even he has slowed down. My theory is he recognised a natural slowing down and saw hit box as a way of reclaiming those lost milliseconds. That makes him a genius and he is the best to ever do it.
