This is truly awesome! My house burned down, And nothing has gone right. You truly do appreciate a fine crafted piece of furniture, or really anything made with with passion. I refinish furniture and put love into every piece; Oftentimes it's hard to let a piece go ! Thank you for displaying your hard work for the world to admire ♡♡

"three and a little less than a half sixteenths" that made me giggle - why do we make ourselves continue to suffer with imperial units haha! (don't worry, I do the same thing!)
@DaileyWoodworks2 жыл бұрын
Yep… I’d love to make the switch. For some things I have. It’s just hard when you think and visualize in imperial.

I was guessing about 1500$, I was way off, lol. But the work that you did definitely merits the price that you charge, it’s so beautiful. I definitely am subbing, and now I’m going to watch the Chevron video! Thanks for this gem! 😊

Higher. However, I am VERY new to woodworking. I was quite curious on pricing. With lumber prices almost rivaling precious metals, I am surprised that folks are able to pay that. Thanks for sharing though. Im considering attempting a similar project.

Here is how I price my work. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqG1maSVaqd9pbM Pricing correctly is hard. A huge part is having a reputation for doing quality work. Good branding and marketing helps. At the end of the day math doesn't care about your feelings...it's all just time and materials. It took me a long time to quit haggling against myself and just let the math set my prices.
@rickpouley28572 жыл бұрын
It was a little higher than what I was thinking.. I was thinking about $3000. But, I wasn't sure the cost of your wood.. It sure turned out beautiful!

If I'd done a regular top instead of the double chevron you would have been right. Doing the pattern takes about 3x as long.

@erickeeley423211 ай бұрын
Seems like a fair price for the amount of time it likely took. How do you arrive at that price. Your Hourly Rate plus materials or some other way. This is always a hard question for most creators.
@donaldpyles28912 жыл бұрын
The proper price is what someone is willing to pay for it. You can't make a living if you do make enough money to live on. If it were me I would ask $3,800 for the next one, if someone buys it, you know you are still inside the value window. If you were to sell that to a furniture store for $3,600 they would ask $5,500 for it. You are keeping the price down with no middle man. Nice video

How much longer than the opening do you cut rebar? I understand the deeper hole at the top so you can fit the rebar. Just curious how much longer the rebar needs to be compared to the opening. Thanks.

I only build commissions. I have some standard models and standard pricing but everything is made to order.

Lower. I guessed 4500 for a solid wood 3 door dog kennel. How much is it to ship something like this? Also, Iove that you have the kids in there learning and getting quality time.
@DaileyWoodworks2 жыл бұрын
Shipping is very expensive. $600 would be "cheap". Highest has been to Seattle for $1200. I use UShip which is like Uber for independent carriers. They do a much better job of protecting my products vs the big freight companies

I would say your price is fair for that piece with the only unknown being how you made the counter top. That chevron pattern could eat all your profits with just a small mistake.

Yep, The Chevron top added a lot more in labor. I'm working on editing that video now. They are fun to make though.

Price was a little higher than I thought, however, seeing how much time and labor goes into making this piece I think you priced it well. Is there a divider inside for each dog? I see three doors but I didn’t see any dividers for each section. Just curious.

Yes there are dividers. Thank you!

Wow $3,000?! I don’t know anything about wood furniture, costs, or anything, but I thought this would be like around $800. Lol
@myfb393610 ай бұрын
Custom 1 of 1 furniture. Gotta take to an account the math and drawing plans, (normally a 3D sketchup) to show the customer before making it. Another words, add about 10 hours of computer labor to it. 20 hours to built it, 10 hours labor, 2 hours to gather materials, overhead cost. High end Dressers alone go for $1500, don’t see why this would be any different. When it comes to woodworking, metalworking, or any 1 of 1 custom projects, expect to pay a pricier cost. That’s why IKEA, exist, cheap furniture everyone has.

for 3600 I don't believe any piece of furniture should have pocket holes, and an unstained bottom no matter if you see it or not, quality products are suppose to be excellent even in the places where you would never think to look.
