DLDDW, thanks for the analysis. B2, I opened and landed in 3NT but, er, took a wrong view in the play for -1. B5, the North bot rebid 2D, and we defended 2NT for -3.

DWLDW - thanks for the analysis 1) same unpleasant contract 2) I opened an undisciplined 1D and rebid clubs - partner jumped to 3NT. Lucky with spade lead lead round to North. 3) I reversed into 2H. Got carried away to 4H - played it badly - lost control of trumps 4) flat hand 5) North rebid their diamonds - then they found 2NT and it went one off. peter_d playing ACOL

Interesting set. #1 - It comes down to whether you are brave enough to take the D hook near the end of the hand. I wasn't; W has already shown up with a whole bunch of high cards. But I think my analysis was wrong. If it loses, W plays her 5th heart and promotes E's last trump for -2. But you might be -2 anyway if you can't get back to your hand with a club, which turned out to be the case. #2 - I opened the S hand so N drove to 3N. Makes after a S lead, and the bots misdefended and make me make an overtrick. #3 - I don't know why it didn't occur to me to rebid 2H. I doubled and rebid D and then partner competed to 4D over 3S, +1. #4 - Flat board. #5 - My partner rebid 2D instead of 1S, so then W bid 2N, -3. DWWDW

Nice commentary and card reading. Keep it up. . #3 I was with you defending 2S, but it seemed the majority won the board by rebidding 2H, which encouraged pd to compete to 4H (= or -1). . #5 LHO tried 2N after pd rebid 2D, then the roof fell in. WDDDW

Yes, #3 2H is a better rebid, gets across 9 of your cards and strength. Not sure why it didn't occur to me. #5 I think North should compete more vigorously but they got scared like I did!

@ Likewise lol … I spent all my time thinking about what I would do if pd rebid 2C/3C over my X and forgot about bidding 2H.

Yes, don't why I didn't think of 2H either. Many Lia N's are rebidding 2D on #5 instead of 1S - is this a bug?

@@VanessaSchmithorst It seems to be Lia 2/1 standard are rebidding 2D, and those with Gavin’s full are rebidding 1S. . Personally I don’t like rebidding 1S on such an empty suit when RHO has already announced length in the suit.
