Yes the original owner closed the park in 1996 following a fatal accident. Premier Parks planned to reopen it in 1999. They had purchased three roller coasters from the recently closed Opryland in Tennessee. Six Flags was purchased by Premier Parks in 1998. Around 2002 ish the plans to redevelop the land into a new park were fully cancelled.

This parked closed in 96 due to a train ride derailing off the track. Killing a 57 year old and paralyzing her 4 year old granddaughter.
