1) Win the "Race" to call 911. The first person who calls is normally regarded as the Victim. 2) SHUT UP. Explain in no uncertain terms that you want a Lawyer, and will cooperate with his instruction. 3)ALLWAYS remember, Anything you say Can and Will be used against you.

Consider a membership / policy with USCCA or one of the many other outfits that provide legal services ..... as you maybe in the right but being right can still be costly.

Interesting watching this video versus the USCCA one where the lawyer they had on set basically said. .. don't talk to the police anymore than you have to, get an attorney, and assume your'e going to be arrested until the investigation is over.

Here is my advice, IF Possible, avoid or mitigate getting involved in situation where you end up having to use your firearm in a self-defense situation. Remember, your firearm will be held for the duration of the trial until the verdict. In addition, remember the cost of the attorney and make sure whatever firearm insurance you get will help cover the cost. Remember and learn from what happen to Kyle Rittenhouse, as an example. If you do get involved in a shooting, make sure you tell the officer you need to go to the hospital. Why? At the moment of the shooting, your blood pressure and/or stress level is probably through the roof and you may or not feel it and you need to get it down close to normal. You don't need to be injured to request to go to the hospital.

I like your suggestions better than most I have seen. Some suggest that you do not share any information with the responding officers until lawyer present. This seemed to me to establish an adversarial relationship with the Police. Your suggestion to share the basic facts, “stick to the facts”, seems to be a better approach.

You're gonna talk yourself right into an 8x5. Understand you will be speaking to men and women who are highly experienced in taking your human impulse to not rock the boat and using it to build a case against you. Most people have never been in an interview room and have the idea that they can talk their way out of a case. It's like thinking that having never wrestled a person ever you're gonna win a match with a BJJ black belt. You're entirely out of your element. If the detective gets his feelings hurt you are using your absolute right to not incriminate yourself as an innocent man he can piss up a rope.

Join USCCA. Never speak with Law Enforcement as to what occurred other than you felt your life was in danger. Always comply with Law Enforcement but do not speak to the events without council present.

I was told by my CCW instructor that ANY use of force scenario WILL result in a legal trial. Is that 100% the case, or is that generally what happens? He had very clear incentives to push USCCA memberships, but I want to make sure that it's an absolute certainty if I actually use my gun.
@paraAA822 жыл бұрын
No, use of force not always result in a "legal trial." Now if you use your firearm, that is lethal force and yes, you will be involved in the legal system. So you better have legal representation ready.Obtaining pre-paid legal services is a good advice. USSCA is the Walmart of the industry. It is NOT the only or the best option. I strongly recommend to shop around and go with a company that best fits your circumstances such as budget, occupation and likelihood of risk.

@@paraAA82 do you have other recommendations? USCCA is the only one i've ever even heard of.

@@bobjohnson8447 absolutely! In NO particular order of preference here are the best pre-paid self-defense companies: Firearms Legal Protection, Second Call Defense, CCW Safe, US LawShield, US Concealed Carry. ALL these companies offer excellent coverage in in case of a self-defense incident. I strongly recommend to check all of them and choose one based on your particular situation (budget, life style, etc) USSCA is the Walmart of the industry and definitely in my opinion, not the best, but it is better than nothing.

This is bonkers advice lol. Like absolutely going to ruin your life bonkers. Do not talk to the cops without your lawyer. Do not talk to the cops before you speak with your lawyer. ALL information provided to the cops can be used against you. The advice in this video is based on several extremely dangerous assumptions. One, that the person who has deployed their weapon acted in a way that was entirely reasonable and beyond reproach, and two, that our self-defender can articulate that to the police without making ANY errors. If you have shot somebody, you have just had likely a top 10 worst experience of your life. You have done something you have NEVER done before in a highly stressed state, while afraid and angry. Odds are, you did not act entirely rationally. Your perception of the event may be fully or in part contradicted by any footage of the event because of your emotional state at the time. Any errors you make will be used to impeach your credibility and rationality. Three, this advice assumes that the very likely HIGHLY EXPERIENCED investigator cannot manipulate a person ENTIRELY OUT OF THEIR ELEMENT into saying exactly what they need to hear to charge them with a crime. These detectives do this professionally. They have highly-refined psychological mind games they will deploy against their suspect in order to build a case. They are very likely highly empathetic, highly skilled manipulators. The only way to not lose against them is not to play the game, and they will absolutely make you feel like you're throwing your life away by doing that, even as your normal human impulses scream at you to say something to save yourself. The odds that YOU, the guy in an interview room spilling his guts is capable of creating a courtroom strategy that will actually help is exactly ZERO. Understand if you just shot somebody you're no longer in control of what happens to you. You're not going to work the next day. The police may hold you for days that could turn into months and years as all this gets settled, even if you're ultimately found innocent! The words you say at the time of your arrest are infinitely more likely to extend that time than reduce it. It is vitally important that if you carry a gun for self defense you fully understand your 5th amendment rights. These rights absolutely apply to you as a good, law abiding citizen and are meant to protect you. Invoking your 5th amendment right cannot be used against you in court. It does not make you a bad guy. However, invoking your right to remain silent is not going to get your detectives to say "oh, our mistake, let us get you a lawyer." No, they are going to continue to work you. They will attempt to make you feel like you're letting them down, and that you're hurting your own case not getting them on your side. You have to hold out until you see your lawyer. This could take days. Adjust your expectations for that time appropriately.
