A daily harvest. I stroll through my vegetable patch every morning harvesting, for my family, what is ready to eat. It’s one of my life’s little pleasures.

Your environment looks so inviting to us, here in the U.K. In the northwest, where I live, we have had 11 inches (280 mm) of rain in July. The historical average is 4 inches (100mm). It has been 3°C cooler on average, very little sun and very windy. My crops are way behind and many have rotted or been damaged. Nevertheless, we are still getting organic food, better than the supermarkets. The biggest bugbear for me is not being able to get outside during our main ‘summer’ month. Best wishes, Andrew

You have my sympathies. We lived in the UK (Surrey) for 20 years, and loved the place, the people, the country, and the greenery. It rained a lot, but when it didn’t, it was gorgeous. The weather here is on another level for sure. We’re outdoors a lot. I never grew anything in England (my wife is the keen gardener) but here … I just can’t help myself 🙂

PS. Have you seen Charles Dowding’s videos? He has an amazing no-dig veggie garden and seems to cope well with the UK weather. Maybe you can pick up some tips from him?
