You kept mentioning hamsters. I'm an avid hamster owner from the US who is really into proper hamster care (huge enclosures, huge wheels, special diets, multiple substrates etc.) I couldn't help but notice what looked like bird stuff next to the stuff you were showing. Can you show pet stores in Japan? Or big pet sections in stores? I'd love to see what pet supplies they offer for hamsters but I'm curious in general what all they have for cats, dogs, reptiles, birds, rabbits etc.

fun fact about witches brooms. as a pagan myself, they are used to "sweep away" negative energy. commonly hung above the front door of the home and used during a home cleansing when you get to the door you can literally "sweep out" the negative energy you cleansed from your home. same with hanging witches bells by your front door. the bells are also used to rid the home of negative energy. :)

Those jelly pots can be bought in reptile stores here (UK) as some lizards like to eat them, but they can also be used as food for the bugs that you feed to them. Those round balls are H2O, because you can't give insects pools of water or they will drown.

I hope you invest in an air bed for camping. Also, I always find it helpful to bring some canopy tents for shade, especially if you need to prep food and need shade. The canopy tent with the screen walls/doors are good if you want to store your coolers/supplies/table/chairs and keep it from being wet from rain or bugs sticking everywhere. I always just bring one for that purpose. Anyways, have a great time.

Oh man, I loved this so much! One of my favorite things to do when I travel is to visit regular stores to see what life is really like in different places. You really get a feel for the culture! Thanks so much for this! You and Norm are awesome. (and I learned a surprising amount of stuff about Japanese bugs! LOL)

Omg I love those cat beds. I live in a rooftop flat so I could really use those. Well, my cats could.

My boyfriend and I have just bought a huge 8 person tent, it’s a yurt tent and is cool as hell! 😂 We’re hopefully going to go camping at the end of month! 😂

Hi Sharla! Thanks for the great video! Just a correction tho as someone who practices- those were Shinto kamidana and they are to honor the Japanese gods (kami). You don't worship your dead relatives with those. You would use a Buddhist butsudan but I can totally see the confusion as they do look somewhat similar.

I remember being a kid and visiting my cousins in Japan during summer break and catching those beetles in the woods!
