Loved coming to this temple! Such a great place to walk around, observe everything around or just sit somewhere and read a book. It's quite far from my condo, but I love the place so much I'm considering moving somewhere closer.

Hi guys, loving your vidoes, wondering how you are getting around the insurance for riding the bike in Vietnam. Our understanding from our research is Vietnam doesnt recognise licenses from many countries, including australia, Canada and the US. Do you have a particular visa that allows you to legally ride?
@wattstraveling
@wattstraveling 2 ай бұрын
Some bike shops will offer insurance for the bike only.... but you are on your own for everything else. The majority of the people don't have insurance here. It's a risk, no question. Most of the speed limits are 40kms/hr with the occasional 60 or 70kms on the highways. We don't drive reckless and just take out time. 👍that's all you can do.

Wearing long clothes and covering your shoulders while visiting holy sites like pagodas , temples , churches , synagogues and mosques are part of the respect to the different religions in the world . Wearing hat and shoes in the prayer hall are also considered as very disrespectful and rude by the locals . All those statues are made of marble , granite, sandstone and soapstone imported from the mountainous province of Thanh Hoa ( south of Ninh Binh ) and their colors are all natural . You can check-out those stone workshops around the Marble Mountains or in Thanh Hoa province to see how they carve those stones to make statues , stelae , shrines , gravestones , curios , furniture , garden decorations and jewels . The Vietnamese artisans are very skillful . They can carve stone , wood , metal , gemstone with just some simple tools . However today there are also a lot of machine made statues from stone powder or artificial stone coming from the same mould , weighing much lighter and costing a lot cheaper .

@hungcuongnguyen293 yes, I understand that covering up when going to temples is a way to show respect, much like other places we've visited in the world.... but there's only been two other places (not in Vietnam) where Jay had to cover his legs..... seems (in our experience) there are different rules for man and women. Thank you for sharing the information about the statues, I found them fascinating ❤️

Like in the US, pagodas like this one are built from the donations of people. They aren't subsidized by the government and do not even enjoy any tax-exempt status. The fact that people donate money, and the money was enough to build a fairly decent structure like this one is anecdotal evidence of Vietnam's relative improvement of its national income in the past few years. In the 1980's-1990's, during the dark age of Vietnam's economy, people didn't even have enough food to eat, much less superfluous donations, and things like pagodas, churches became abjectly decrepit, falling into a state of disrepair and neglect. Thank you for a nice, good resolution video.

chinoclarion - Which country are you from and what kind of education did you get from your parents dude ? Let me tell you for respect to the local religion , culture and tradition you have to take off your hat , shoes and wear appropriate clothes when entering the prayer hall of holy places like pagodas and temples . Hope that will answer your question .
