Nice. Antibiotics used responsibly are a very effective tool.

Common sense approach, nicely done

Not sure how I came across your video now. Its interesting though because Alan Vo with his concoction talked about providing the tank with enough good bacteria to out compete the bad bacteria that may cause necrosis. He mentioned he hasn't had an RTN/STN event since he started introducing the concoction.

I think that it is a sound strategy, and kinda common sense to fill in that gap with good bacteria. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.

Thanks Ed, I learned something. I'm wondering why SPS is more prone to bacterial infections over the other types of corals?
@GwonkReefkeeping2 жыл бұрын
Good question. I guess it's SPS and euphyllia that are the canary in the coal mine species when it comes to bacterial infections.

Hi Ed did you do a 20% water change week after the treatment
@GwonkReefkeeping Жыл бұрын
Eventually I did an approximately 30 percent water change. I'm trying to remember, but I may have done two of them. I hope that this helps. Are you dealing with an issue right now?
@andrew5762 Жыл бұрын
@@GwonkReefkeeping 🤞no but I’ve changed tanks and got cyano on sand bed ( even tho used live sand 🤷🏻♂️) so been looking at chemi clean or red slime powder to remove it .using micro bacteria 7 every day for last week , going slowly. 🥴
@GwonkReefkeeping Жыл бұрын
@@andrew5762 I'm a firm believer in ChemiClean.

@@GwonkReefkeeping great thanks Ed . Need more help please,as I said changed over tanks now fish have red blotches over body , not eating think it’s a bacteria strain 🤦♂️any ideas , how to help
@GwonkReefkeeping Жыл бұрын
@@andrew5762 I'm not certain what that could be, but honestly, I would probably start with a Rally Pro treatment of the fish. I haven't used it myself, but I think that it may help.

I need to use chemiclean for rtn in Mt tank, I can only find the blue box one, will that be good enough still
@GwonkReefkeeping Жыл бұрын
It should be. The difference between the box color is the amount in it. The blue box is 2 grams. The red one is 6 grams. As long as it is enough to treat your volume of water, you should be good.

Look up kfc coral in tank treatment, just did it using amoxicillin, cipro and erythromycin (chemiclean) for brown jelly
@GwonkReefkeeping Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip. I've heard of the KFC treatment, but never investigated the specifics of it. I've got some homework to do I guess.

Would a stronger dose work better or maybe faster?
@GwonkReefkeeping2 жыл бұрын
Possibly. I actually wish I had increased the concentration by at least 25 percent.

Doesn’t work on brown jelly?
@GwonkReefkeeping7 ай бұрын
I actually would assume that it would work. I have heard of some other reefers have used it with their hammers and torches.

Nope. I only know of the two mentioned in the video. There may be more used.

Protozoans are totally different micro organisms from Bacteria .
@GwonkReefkeeping Жыл бұрын
Interesting observation. You have spurred me on to research the difference between the two. I've done a little research since reading your comment. I think that I need a little deeper dive to fully appreciate the difference. It's fascinating stuff. Thanks for the observation.
