I’m a newbie scrum from BA/PO working the board. You made it so much easier to ask definitive questions rather than the mundane. Great insight, thank you so much.

I almost bounced from this video because your diction is too wild....... then I had to stay because your diction is too wild. And then you made some incredibly valuable points. Cheers, and thank you for these great insights!

@@agilecoach Most of us would be lucky to order a cerveza in three languages. Your delivery, humor, content, and conciseness are all A+. I think it's only a matter of time before your channel really grows! Gonna check out some more of your content now, thanks again for sharing.

My sentiment exactly. Watched two seconds, moved to another video, came back here because I got curious of the title. The three question format is the standard format that is recommended by everyone except this guy. And he makes a very valid point that the three question format makes it a status update meeting. It seems contradictory when we are required to follow this format but are also told that the daily scrum is NOT a status update meeting...

Two important takeaways: 1. You voice is awesome, I am not sure which context this would best fit, but yeah, epic 2. After researching the scrum methodology, you made the most sense of the benefit of the daily scrum. Thank you!

Have you tried using an app like Standup Alice for getting through the "3 questions" more quickly so you can focus on the conversations about cards?
@agilecoach Жыл бұрын
Doesn't Standup Alice make the daily scrum asynchronous? Do you think that the daily scrum/daily standup would be more effective asynchronously?
@KeithNorris17 Жыл бұрын
@@agilecoach Standup Alice can be used sync or async. We use it WITH a synchronous MS Teams meeting. It captures the 3 questions so that the verbal part of the meeting can be more focused on conversations that move tasks forward. I find it keeps people more focused to have a written outline to follow. I am a BIG fan of synchronous, but having the written record is nice for the times when someone on the team can't make it. (Which does happen occasionally... particularly with team members who are in very different time zones). Thanks for your videos. good stuff.

how do you go about daily scrums with a big team for a mature product where there is no "sprint goal"?
@agilecoach6 ай бұрын
Why is there no sprint goal?
@lidam6 ай бұрын
I have a same question, we have mature system, not much new development but we have standup just like a team with some product development. I have to come with some work besides operational stuffs. It’s kind of funny but crafting answer everyday is getting challenging and I’m started to get nervous. By the way I have been in the same situation for last two years
@agilecoach6 ай бұрын
Why are you nervous? Does the team have goals and prioritizes for the sprint? Are you ensuring that these are being discussed in the daily scrum?
@tomaszkaznocha26413 жыл бұрын
You are awesome! :) The topic is also an important one. I wish walking the board can make it into the Scrum Guide so it can repair the damage made by infamous three questions.

In this format of a standup how do people who don't work directly on the active sprint tickets get to report? Like the product owner, the engineering manager, the UI/UX designer?
@agilecoach Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Natasha. What would they report? The event should be used to plan the next 24 hours as a team to progress towards the sprint goal. It's not a reporting or status meeting..

😆You just a natural. For me, it is learning fun on your channel always . I love how factual you are couples with your voice and humor. Seriously, who will be listening to you when you are talking about yourself? We all are thinking what to say next and how to say it without looking stupid. So I really love this approach and will be sure to use it. After all that is what being agile is all about. Being Flexible enough to use methods that bring about the best results . Thanks as always.

Honestly, i'm 90% sure the original point of agile was just codeword that devs used to say to project managers "please fuck off, and let us code". and.. you guys.. just co-opted it and rebranded yourself as 'agile', and brought all the worst parts from project management back into it. The most effective dev teams i've seen have just been small teams of like 3-4 devs, one of which is good at talking. That's it. No meetings, no charts, no sprints, no standups, no refinements, nothing but a to-do list on each person's desk. These guys can belt out things like windows 98, Doom, Half-life and the linux kernal.

During the rotation of the facilitator, should it be insisted upon if a member of the team does not want to facilitate?
@agilecoach2 жыл бұрын
The developers (with the help of the scrum master) should work together and find out why one or multiple team members don't want to facilitate the daily scrum. Maybe the event is not valuable enough? Communication is key.
