【Daily Vlog】『Hamster Care』 Nightly routines with my hamster 🐹 who wants to help her mom

Hello everyone, I'm Mickey. Today I want to share my nightly routine with you all. Taking care of XiaoXiong is the same as taking care of a child. Before she wakes up, I make sure to complete all the preparations. If you find the video a bit lengthy, feel free to skip ahead to when I start tidying up XiaoXiong's area at 4:05.
First, I prepare XiaoXiong's food. Although XiaoXiong eats most her meal during the day when she sleeps, she also nibbles on some vegetables and fruits at night. I usually only give XiaoXiong fruits at night because they're like her snacks, and pleasing this little one isn't easy, after all, she's had a taste of all the delicacies from the mountains and the sea, I feed her the best.
Before bedtime, besides preparing food, I also like to bring a small hot water bottle with me and turn on the room air condition fan to ensure there's airflow. I tidy up the room a bit, picking up any scraps of paper and hamster droppings. Then I turn off XiaoXiong's heating pad because she'll wake up soon. The purpose of the heat pad is to let XiaoXiong sleep more soundly and reduce her metabolic rate while sleeping. The ideal temperature for hamsters is around 25 to 28 degrees Celsius; they tolerate heat better than cold, so it's better to have a slightly higher temperature than too low.
As for lighting in the room, I always keep a red light on when I need to see. Studies have shown that complete darkness is best for hamsters at night, which is beneficial for their health. The second-best option is using a red light because hamsters can't see red light, so having the red light on is like being in complete darkness for them. Hamsters don't need light at night, and having it on can make them nervous and affect their health. Right now, I have the main light on because I'm filming. XiaoXiong is a tidy girl; the first thing she does when she wakes up at night is to groom herself, spending about an hour on it. I never interfere with XiaoXiong's sleeping time; she sleeps as much as she wants. Since she was young, XiaoXiong has been a sleepy child, sleeping for 14 to 18 hours a day before coming out to play.
Once XiaoXiong comes out to play, I start cleaning her bed. Every morning before she goes to sleep, I fill her sleeping area with plenty of fresh food. When tidying up at night, I dispose of all the leftover food. Additionally, I focus on removing hamster droppings and any kitchen paper towels that smell bad. I replace these items with clean ones every day. I believe that environmental hygiene is particularly important for the health of hamsters. I also clean the litter sand multiple times a day. If XiaoXiong hasn't come out to pee, it means I have to find out where she urinated in her bed at night. Usually, she urinates in one spot, so once I find that spot, I replace all the bedding material there.
