You’re not going to point out how quickly the daily contacts dry up, in less than an hour and stay that way
@RyanReviewsOptometry6 жыл бұрын
It truly depends which daily contact lens you have. From my clinical experience, the newer technology daily contact lenses have great designs and are very comfortable. If you elect to be fit with an older material, you'll run into this issue in daily or monthly contacts.
@reppy07576 жыл бұрын
If you're talking about drying up while you're not wearing them or soaking them... Yes. They all do that. No question. Once they're too dry they're done for. These are things your optometrist will explain to you when you decide to order contacts and for the most part, is something I'm sure everyone who ever wore contacts is aware of

I learned the hard way about sleeping with contacts in. I've worn contacts for 15 years now and always wore monthlies. Always slept in them. When they were irritated or felt as if they were drying out, I would use the bubble cleaner overnight. I call it that or 'burn juice' because it's funnier. Anywho, earlier this September, I wound up with keratinitis or something it's called? And conjunctivitis on my left cornea. Just the ever so tiny TINY cut on the cornea, we're talking having to see a specialist to really magnify things to see because the hospital nor local optometrist had the equipment to see something so small. But long story made short- My eye hurt SO bad that I thought it was actually cut open. I couldn't even open my good eye because moving my left eye while my eyelid was closed felt as if sandpaper was scratching it. So yeah. 15 years of luck with no bad experiences and since Sept (literally a couple months ago), I've made sure to take my contacts out every single night. And now I'm buying 2 week contacts. This way if I accidentally sleep in them, it won't be the end of the world. So yes. Take them out every night. You can be lucky like me for 15 years straight but I won't go through that hell again. Lol. So out they go every. Single. Night.

Reppy07 I’m sorry to hear about this. It only takes one bad infection to lead to the kind of pain and discomfort you’re describing. We have a video on sleeping in contacts and, while we don’t recommend it, there are a few that are approved for extended or continuous wear. Regardless, glad you’re OK and wish you best of luck with your contacts moving forward!

@@RyanReviewsOptometry Haha thanks. Just a few days of extreme discomfort. I liked sleeping with contacts in because there's no greater feeling in the world than to wake up with perfect eyesight. But man, ever since that hiccup, I can't imagine the poor soul with a full infection. I was lucky with a microscopic cut because that felt there was sand paper in my eye. Only being able to open your eyes for only a second here and there with extreme pain and watering in your eyes just do you can at least not walk into a wall. Microscopic cut. Goes to show how important yet sensitive your eyes are 😎

It's also worth considering hard gas permeable lenses. Yes, they're harder to get used to (though once you do, you won't necessarily notice that you're wearing them… most of the time), and you need to clean them carefully because you're going to put them back in your eyes over and over again. You also need to buy more solutions to use them. But then they're much more durable and supposedly provide better vision than a soft lens will - and you don't need to buy an endless stream of lenses (just the solutions).

@RyanReviewsOptometry6 жыл бұрын
haroon miah it all depends on the supply you buy. For example, if you buy a 3 month supply (6 lenses total; 3 each eye) you would wear each one for a month (taking them out every night) and throw them away after the month ends. Therefore, it all depends on the modality you’re fit in and the supply you purchase.
@RyanReviewsOptometry6 жыл бұрын
It's probably in your best interest to not use harsh cleaning products with contact lenses in. Only because, if airborne, the chemicals in these products can be absorbed by your lenses.

I don't recommend wearing your contact lenses past what is FDA approved (or approved by your eye doctor). If you do so, and get an eye infection, the treatment will be much more expensive than just wearing your contacts as recommended...
@RyanReviewsOptometry6 жыл бұрын
BriMirai Sarada probably best to do it with contacts out. If you’re going to wash your face with them in, just be very careful around your eyes. The last things you want is soap to get on your contacts while you’re wearing them. This can irritate your eyes and, in some cases, lead to an infection.

I buy the 2 week contacts from Walmart, the store brand and I wear them for a month. I have worn contacts for over 30 yrs with no problems. Never sleep in them and don't swim even closing your eyes as you can still get water on them. The daily ones are a ripoff! I think the lenses are the same and they just charge different prices based on how long you plan on wearing them.

@AppleBottomJ4 жыл бұрын
Brian Finn the reason people wear daily contacts is to protect their eye. Using the same contact for long periods of a time is not sanitary (in my opinion). There is definitely a science behind it and if their was a “rip off,” like you are stating, no doctor would recommend them. It’s not like they are getting a huge bonus to promote them.

Unfortunately, I'm not surprised as that lens is designed with pretty outdated breathability and wetting agents. I recommend talking with your eye doctor about newer lens options. If you're concerned about price, make sure to let them know as there are still many much newer contacts to fit you in that would be significantly more comfortable (without breaking the bank).
