I don’t agree with Brenda at all. Her complete discounting of Paul is a spit in the face to God. For those who don’t know, Paul used to be a man named Saul. Saul persecuted Christians for the Pharisees due to his devotion to Yahweh. He was honored to do these things and become a great threat to the early church. The Lord Jesus saw Saul however and had a grander vision for him. He appeared to him and told him how he will spread the gospel. This changed him so much that he became a devout Christian and spread the good news at the cost of his mortal life. If the One Living God makes an Apostle out of a persecutor, then who are we to cast out this man? It’s a slap in the face to The Lord and a disservice to other believers.

To answer the Inter racial marriage quip... in the Old testament, the reason why it wasn't allowed was because the other races apart from Israel worshiped other gods. In the New testament, Paul writes that all are equal despite gender, race in Christ. He only said that one should not be unequally yoked with unbelievers.
@silversauceran
@silversauceran 3 жыл бұрын
Which the new testament remains consistent with the old testament on that issue. It wasn't about marrying different races it was about serving different gods. Israelites were set apart and served God and would follow after other gods if they married into different cultures. Same thing today, a Christian ideally should not marry a nonbeliever knowingly. But if they do they can still win their partner to Christ by acting in love.

@@toyaleejb7714 no that was not the point they got struck because instead of handling the family issue that they had a problem with the wife because she was Ethiopian they started starting dissension in the camp and started murmur and complain and causing people to murmur against Moses that’s what God was angry with he was angry that they did what they did with his wife but he was more angry that they started dissension“Moses had married a woman who was a descendant of Cush. Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because he had married that woman. They said, ‘We do not believe that the Lord has really spoken only by Moses. We believe that he has spoken by us too.’ The Lord heard what they said. Moses was a very humble man. He was the most humble person in the whole world. Immediately the Lord said to Moses and Aaron and Miriam, ‘You three people come out to the Tent of Meeting.’ So those three people went there. Then the Lord came down in a pillar of cloud. He stood at the door of the tent. He said that Aaron and Miriam should come nearer. They both came nearer. Then he said, ‘Listen to my words! If there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, will show myself to him in a vision. Or I will speak to him in a dream. But it is different when I speak to Moses. He is the one that I trust to lead all my people. I speak clearly to him, as I come near to him. I do not say things to him that are hard to understand. He even sees the shape of the Lord. So you should have been afraid to speak against my servant Moses!’ So the Lord was very angry with Aaron and Miriam and he left them. But when the cloud had gone away from over the tent, Miriam's skin became white, like snow. She now had the bad illness called leprosy in her skin. Aaron looked at her and he saw that she had leprosy. Then Aaron said to Moses, ‘My master, please do not punish us because we have done this very silly thing. We have done a bad thing. But do not let Miriam be like a baby that is born dead, with a body that is only half there.’” ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭12:1-12‬ ‭EASY‬‬ https:/

The only thing that I’ve ever sort of agreed with Brenda about is that we’ve made homosexuality and similar things the top priority for some reason, yet we ourselves have welcomed divorces and allowed people who are divorce to marry in church and don’t make it as big of a deal when gay people are a tiny percentage, but divorce is huge

And about the interracial marriage issue, i am improving, but I'm not that versed in the bible, but from what i know, God didn't want his people to marry into a society that didn't serve him, that didn't believe in him, that served other "gods". God didn't want his people to stray and be tempted, It's more about being equally yoked, than anything else, really.

There are a few interracial marriages in the Bible actually! Moses married an Ethiopian I believe. And Ruth, a Moabite, married Boaz. Joseph married an Eyptian. You are a 100 percent right, it wasn't the race that was the problem, it was the false religion

i am definitely in between when it comes to being a conservative christian and being a progressive christian. i feel like progressive christians pick and choose what to follow in the Bible. or they say "it doesn't say this or that. it doesn't mean it in that way". and at the same time, conservative christians put way too much emphasis on the law and not love. Jesus loved above all, just as we are called to do. we arent going to make disciples by forcing our religious laws on them, but instead showing them how much we love them, which then shows them the love of Christ.

We don't follow the examples of people. Our loyalty is not to any specific Christian sect, it's to God alone. Just follow Jesus, and study His words and His commandments. God willing, wherever that lands you is where He wants you to be.

I dont think the majority of conservative Christians actually believe in enforcing the laws of the Old Testament, some may but not most from what I've seen. 1 john 3:23-24 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. Jesus when asked what the greatest commandment he replied love God and love your neighbor as yourself. So if you love God, you would keep commandments 1-4, and if you love your neighbor commandments 5-10. Basically the 10 commandments. So by doing that you will keep the old Testament moral commandments. So they are loving, but to the world it comes off as judgmental and harsh.

Just to mention there not religious laws there God's laws. And I agree with love above all that's scripture but in every parable where he confronted someone that sinned he showed them compassion but also let them know they either needed to repent, be born again, and go and sin no more. Love is a great thing, Laws (Boundries) are a great thing. When you fully understand God's love for us you can understand the boundaries he has for us. And when you can understand the boundaries and why they are there you can clearly see his love for us. I do not let my children play with venomous snakes because of the danger they possess, now tell me is that love or law? It's both, my love for them causes me to enforce boundaries on them and anyone who might be taken care of them for the moment.
@mahoneychris17
@mahoneychris17 3 жыл бұрын
@@EclypseXx I understand that. In the 2 commands jesus gave love God above all 1-4 and love your neighbor 5-10. Most of the levitical laws were more about the levites and those who worked in the temple in order to remain clean, I'm not saying rule those out, but honestly they were not meant for all. If I was a normal everyday jew, I wouldnt be required to follow the laws given for the priesthood just like a man would not be expected to follow the laws about women and so forth. Alot of it comes with common wisdom, that we should all have, yet many today either dont or do yet ignore it. Do I believe God will send a Christian to hell simply because they are unable to keep Saturday as the sabbath especially if they have no choice other than to work on that day? No, by saying this we would then have to condemn every Christian nurse or doctor who has to, which I do not believe God will, yet many sabbath believers believe yes. God understands we do not live in Israel where they were commanded by not only God but their government to keep it. Does this mean you are not keeping the sabbath? I dont believe so if you are able to another day, I do not believe God will punish those who have to work on Saturday, but that's just my thoughts on it.

Chris, To play Devil’s advocate. We see that Mark, Luke, and Matthew and Write the same story with different details to appeal to different demographics. Moses’ delivered the Law in a way similar to Hammurabi’s Code. It’s obvious that they wrote within certain contexts and for people with certain amounts of knowledge. So, given that God doesn’t change the writing/literary style or those He inspires to write His Word, a non Christian could assume it’s just people writing normally and claiming it’s from God (while it’s only vaguely from Him). I disagree because of literacy rates at the time, but it’s a deeper argument than it may seem to be.

I really want to applaud Angel. I can tell he has his heart set on the Lord. I wouldn't really be able to comprehend how much he struggles as a gay man, but I'm amazed that He chose to follow scripture and choose to be celibate to please God. I just wanted to say something because so many people in the original video's comment section are either mocking him or feeling sorry for him for choosing the lifestyle he does. "He must be very miserable," they said. No, he appears to be content. Even if he does not find happiness in another person, he does find joy in Jesus Christ.

I can relate to Angel as a gay man myself of 55 years old. I have dealt with it all my life constantly in battle with myself to be stronger and not fall into the trap of temptation of giving Satan the leeway to do as he please with me. I pray constantly for God to give me the strength to fight this battle I am in. May God bless you and keep your safe God is Good! Amen 🙏 🙏 🇨🇦

As a quote says that I've heard somewhere, God loves you too much to leave you as you are, and in so many places in the bible that saying is confirmed. If you don't see change in your life, then that probably is a good way to see that you don't have God in your life and you're moving on your own will.

Great segment. I think there are questions that are not being asked, for example, what we’re the original authors intentions? Who were they? How would they see these issues? Well also assume that the New Testament came from out the blue, there is a continuity from the Old Testament that continues into the New Testament, morals being one of them. Sexual immorality included. When Christians say that there is this break between the two testaments I know they’re off because the early Christians never looked at it this way. Though there was a change in the priesthood framework, the system is the same just transferred over. Basically you can’t really interpret the scriptures without knowing the minds of the authors, luckily we have much scholarship on this topic.

I can see how people could make an argument that interracial relationships are bad by taking verses about not marrying non-believers and how people were led astray by non-believing spouses. Though I can't think of any verses in the new testament that can be interpreted that way. If anything, the people making those arguments while being socially conservative were the biblical 'progressives' of the time, interpreting scripture based on the reigning culture rather than viewing the culture through the lens of scripture.

Well they don't even want to hear you at that moment. When you are telling people the gospel to an unsaved person you need to keep other subjects from distracting yourselves from giving the gospel. I see a trend of the world w/Believers aligning themselves w/certain camps. I'd like to see all believers fervently seeking the face of God and the Truth of his word, willing to accept the Truth in order to know God better weather the Truthful conclusion aligns w/one camp or another. The primary goal should be a closer walk w/God by seeking and accepting His absolute Truths no matter who's found to be right or wrong in their perceptions at the time. The Truth will set you free, not your worldly affiliation.

I have to be honoust, the first thing brenda said, I kinda agree with. Sexual purity is being idolized by some denominations. Its like the way to get to God. Like, you are never good enough. For example, me and my girlfriend chose to not have sex before marriage, bc we feel the bible and God asks this of us. But then a few weeks ago, i stumbled across a few videos in wich people said kissing or touching eachother before marriage isnt godly or pure. I mean, where do u draw the line? I’m a theology student and i was shocked by the certainty they claimed their beliefs with. Just dropping this here to cause a friendly discussion, does anyone recognize this?

I don't think anyone is pure while we are living in this world. Kissing and touching won't mean anything to God. Kissing and touching will only let you feel the desired to have sex with her. The same for her to you. God considered fornication as sin and not necessary kissing and touching. In other words, putting your intimate part into her intimate part will be considerd sin for God. That is what I think.

As some people already write in the comments, I'm just going to put it here. Bible is the book of life and not a sexual guide. However, sex is a part of life. How are babies born? Because women can get pregnant. How can a woman get pregnant? Because of sex. Other than purity, it's about bringing a new life, a new soul, into this world. That's why, the bible recommend us to be careful with it.

I don't think physical contact is bad, but I personally wouldn't be in a physical relationship with anyone before were married because I struggle with list and looking at someone you're not married to with lust is a sin. We aren't very tolerant of kissing or touching before marriage in a non traditional relationship, maybe we should give a good example from showing we can control ourselves as well.

Actually, the difference was that the slaves in the American state were sorely mistreated. But God told the children of Israel not to mistreat their slaves, and to pay them well. He also told them not make slaves of their fellow Israelities except if the Israeli sold their freedom to be a slave. Also Paul told Philemon to treat the runaway slave who stole from him to receive him and treat him like his brother. Paul also told masters to not be harsh with their slaves nor for slaves to disrespect their masters. Slavery in the Bible was basically like houseworkers being paid, though they usually had one master.

The problem with the argument that “the scripture isn’t true because Paul wrote it” is that- in a world view- all of the books in the Bible were written by men (a vessel for the Holy Spirit to write- but to make my point). So where then do you make the distinction what is true and from God- and what’s not? Even the red letters of Jesus were written down by others, Jesus didn’t physically sit down and say “hold on, I need write down everything I’m doing”. The Holy Spirit gave the duties to certain disciples. The Old Testament was written by men as well, we would have to trust and have faith that Moses and David, etc. truly were touched by God to write the scriptures. So where does the bar fall and how can you determine if any of the Bible is true if you have that view point? You would have to give evidence that the others were given the Spirit to write, and not Paul. There is no logical reason to believe that, it boils down to feelings and cultural beliefs that dictate what you think is true. One day if you wake up and think maybe it’s okay to kill someone, you can’t then say “oh, the Bible speaks against that.. prob not true then. God didn’t really write that.” 🤔
