My mom was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, so once when we were down south visiting family, I helped out some lady at the store. She smiled real big, and in her southern drawl said "Oh, why bless your heart, young man!" I knew that she was being earnest, but just for giggles I called her out!! "HEY!! My mom is from the south, so I know what that really means!!!" LOL, she laughed and backtracked and was like "No, no, no, no!! I didn't mean it that way!! If I did, I would have said bless your LITTLE heart!!!" We laughed and laughed about it. It was great!

@Khunark4 ай бұрын
it's from the book series "A Tale of Ice and Fire", aka "a game of thrones". In that fantasy world, the seasons aren't seasonal, but te longer the summer, the longer the winter. There can be seven-year summers followed by a three-year winter. But there's something wrong during the time period the books take place in. The summer isn't three years long, or seven, it's over ten years long and there are people that haven't ever seen a winter. That's where the expression comes from, from the servants and such of the innocent noble children the book revolves around. They've never seen a winter, and doesn't know that the world can be as harsh as it can be, when all it's been is good to them. It's also where the term "winter is coming" comes from, because they all know that the coming winter will be long. Long enough to perhaps kill them all. Because all the lords have spent this eternal summer just waging wars. And there's not enough interest in finding out where this summer comes from. Nobody is stockpiling.
@rhawkas26374 ай бұрын
@@Khunark Just Googled it to verify and no, that isn't where it comes from. It's been around far longer (since the 1800s). Even GRRM hasn't been working on Game of Thrones that long (even though it may seem like it).
