Short story of life being hard, then getting better: Every day I woke up in the military was a new nightmare. My first conscious thought at about 0530 was, "How are they going to fuck with me, today?" Honestly, I had no business being in the Marine Corps. I had undiagnosed mental illness. The only thing that made me feel better was extreme drunkenness. I almost killed myself with drinking. Two and a half years in I got sober, March 3rd, 1997. I did my last eighteen months sober. I got out and got help. I'm nearly 26 years sober and treating my mental illness. it's been an uphill battle, sometimes, but the view is often spectacular. Merry Christmas to you and good luck.

Thought I’d share my misery Two days ago I learned my family is moving to Texas. I have autism and have just recently started counseling. Just as I’ve started to learn how to build relationships I have to abandon them and build new ones all over again. In the span of two days, my dog developed meningitis and died at the vets. This is the fourth dog of mine who has died suddenly from a random medical emergency. In each case there was no warning, no symptoms, just a rapid deterioration in the span of two or three days and sudden death. Always when they reach the magic age of three. Nothing the vets could have done. My horrible Karen of an aunt adopted a Rottweiler for Christmas, the same breed my dog was. And of course she can’t leave the stupid dog at home when we visit our grandparents for Christmas, so for Christmas I have to cope with this living reminder of the best friend I just lost while my aunt Karen’s about it. Hope everyone else’s holidays are going better.

If you awoke tomorrow with that weather forecast, do you believe everything would be copacetic? Or do you believe bad things would happen? California is much the same. Freezing temperatures in much of the state are rare; snow much more so (though there are parts of California where real winter weather is normal). If you were unaccustomed and unequipped for 110degrees Fahrenheit/43 degrees Celsius, would it cause you problems? I was stationed in South Carolina, USA, at one point, and it snowed about four inches. They were not equipped to deal with it. They had no snow plows, no sand trucks, no supplies. That end of the state shut down. Where I live now, four inches of snow is Tuesday. And where did I put that broom for the windshield.

You used to be able to take a hammer to TV screen and not even crack it but the company's that make things like televisions and monitors have realized that if it has a stronger screen then people will have to buy new ones less often so now they design them to be as fragile as possible while still being able to handle making it through shipping.

8:00 the fact I see broken Uranium red orange fiestaware scares the heck out of me. They hopefully know the severity of the situation outside the mere financial complications the unfortunate event brings. Whereas the radiation in a complete bowl is there but typically safe enough to display, breaking it can release uranium trioxide dust which is both radioactive and toxic as a metal. They were probably new. They haven't used uranium to make them for a long time. It's mostly just collectors who still have the radioactive kinds, and those looked like they were set up to be used, not for collecting.

@@auqustfire some of that orange did look like trioxide though. Has a very distinct color I can recognize as I own one and hunt for orange ceramic antiques just to photo. I just prefer the doctrine of Orange = spicy unless I can verify it isn't. I'm considering getting some of the other colors just to showcase as well. I just bought the orange one as a teaching piece as I hope to better establish my channel and take more of a teaching standpoint sooner.
