Actually, there's evidence in-game that pretty much explicitly proves that Chara's character is entirely dependent on route. The entire "is Chara good or evil?" debate only exists because people are dead-set on assigning a single morality to a character who's morality is literally just "good unless you play the evil route". (No hate intended or anything, I'm just really tired of seeing people talking about this as if Chara is a flat 2d character who never changes and has zero nuance to them)

@@dudono1744 It's a bit complicated and honestly I'm not even sure exactly how it works, but basically, the ways in which the narration text change depending on the player's actions indicate changes in Chara's mental state (this is assuming that Chara is the narrator which is the most logical conclusion). Certain narration lines in the game change based on route and (rarely) specific actions. A good example of this would be the bag of dog food in Alphys' lab. In pacifist, the narrator says it's half-full. In neutral, they instead say it's half-empty. Finally, if you specifically decided to "dispose of" all of the dog guards as well as at least 20 monsters in total, the narrator not only says that the bag is half-empty but also adds "you just remembered something funny". There's multiple other examples of this, such as certain monsters having different check descriptions in the no mercy route (Papyrus for example), but listing every example of this would take way too much of my time. I hope this basic rundown of it all at least gives a baseline idea of what I mean when I say that Chara's moral alignment can change depending on your choices. Of course, if you don't believe that Chara is the narrator then this means absolutely nothing, but oh well...
