This is why FD announcers always had major reverence for Michael Essa. When other drivers always went for large displacement engines, Mike was building his BMWs to be bomb proof competitors with extreme reliability. Mike is tactical AF when it comes to his builds.

I remember when DDE was building the twin turbo F12. I kept thinking this guy has no idea what he is doing. He is going break that Ferrari for sure and that is exactly what happened. Now with Mike rebuilding the twin turbo F12 I am confident in saying it is going to be done right and it will probably be the most reliable car in the DDE fleet. Mike knows his stuff.

He even said in the videos he didn’t know if it would work but was doing what he was asked to do. I'm just a shade tree mechanic. I've built many 4 to 5 hundred hp v8's. 1/ 860 HP stroked 440 in a 70 roadrunner. My most challenging build was an 85 Fiero SE that I dropped an 04' Pontiac GTP blown v6 into and switched it to E-85. Mike Essa! You da man for taking this F-12 on! I can't wait to see it work! I really think you guys should send the car out to get those headers done by somebody who really is very experienced so it looks good under the hood. Not saying that Mike’s not capable of doing it but I think it’s a lot more complicated to get everything to squeeze into that tight area then he realizes. I don’t know how experience he is building a Headers like that but it’s definitely a PRO JOB when it’s comes to that particular item.

For underneath the car transmission transverse mount if not integral should be tapered and flush at least where it mates to the chassis. Meaning there is a frame rail that is a machined piece that has a pocket to accept the transverse mount flange. The pocket holds the flange ears in shear. Each side of the flange is bolted with four counter sunk bolts (SS with loctite) that are blind (accepting fasteners on top in the passenger compartment as mentioned in the video). The frame rail has a starting and trailing ramp so if the bottom scrapes there is nothing to catch and the flange hardware is counter sunk. A good option to attach the bottom transmission mount frame rails to the chassis is to use structural adhesive held in place by SS rivets (each with there own countersunk pocket). The rivets are only for even bonding force while the adhesive sets and not meant to take any load (but they are sealed and not removed). Structural adhesive when used as a lap type joint is very strong in shear, much stronger than welding. With adhesive you also have the option to mate different metals like SS to steel or SS to AL or AL to steel. Just make sure all joints are completely filled with adhesive so there are no crevices. So you could actually make the frame rails and transvers mounting frame from SS.

I’m a machinist and we typically have to stay within .005” certain parts we make actually has a .0001 tolerance and HAS to be within specs or throws the whole final product off, cool to see tolerances used in other aspects of the car industry

I think Mike Essa should try installing Wisefab kits from his BMW F30 or replicate it with some adjustments ...F30 will be a good reference...It will be an additional benefit because the F30 will be serving as a practice car initially. ...Its just a suggestion, Mike will understand it better.
