Luca Badoer shouldn't be on this - or any - worst F1 driver list. Michael Schumacher said he was the best driver he'd ever worked with, and someone who knew how to setup a car properly and trusted his feedback 100% - Michael also said without Luca, he wouldn't have won all of his championships at Ferrari. Ross Brawn said much the same. Luca still holds the record for most number of laps around Fiorano, and also has the lap record at the old Monza layout circuit. He's also an architect of some renown, and his son Brando is now racing karts, as is mentioned in the video.

He was the teammate of Ayrton Senna in 1986. One driver who almost nobody thinks of is Otto Stuppacher. During his 3 rounds in 1976 he never raced. He initially failed to qualify for Italy, being 13.87 seconds off the pace and left the track before discovering that he was allowed to race after three drivers were excluded from qualifying. He also failed to qualify in Canada, where he was 12.696 seconds off the pace (his closest rival was nearly 7 seconds faster), and also DNQed in the United States where he was… 27.448 SECONDS OFF THE FREAKING PACE!!!! That was the end of his career and little known was heard about him before he passed away in 2001.

That's rather unfair on Badoer, he ran in back of the grid cars for all his career in the 90's, and nearly got a Minardi 4th at Nurburgring before the car broke down. He did sterling testing work for Ferrari in the 2000's and was a good behind the scenes factor for the car's improvement in those years.

I don't understand how you don't understand that it's not -only- the money that got these folks into F1. You have to have considerable skill just to drive a hot lap, let alone win/podium/earn points. You being surprised F1 drivers win in other lower-end series is like being surprised the worst baseball player in the MLB goes down to high school level baseball and destroys them. Rule of thumb: Anyone who races professionally would love to drive in F1. They don't because they don't have the talent. If they did, they'd be racing in F1. So the 20 or so drivers on the grid are the top 20 or so drivers in THE WORLD give or take. There are thousands of other drivers out there and dozens upon dozens of other disciplines. The guy that's the worst F1 driver is still lightyears ahead of an average racing driver.

Anyone who thinks Pastor, Stroll, Latifi, Mazepin and Badoer (who was instrumental in the Ferrari dominance years, he was the development driver for these cars) belong anywhere near a list of "worst of all times", has a serious lack of knowledge about F1 and the "playboy drivers" years, when literally anybody with a little cash could buy themselves a seat in F1...

His stints in F1 were an awful Lola Scuderia Italia, an equally awful 1995 Minardi, a 1996 Forti running on a budget in the negatives, and an underdeveloped and underfunded Minardi.
