Lando’s crash at Spa in 2021 was when my opinion of Seb went from almost zero to stratospheric, he was the only driver who wanted to make sure Lando was OK and wouldn’t move off until he saw Lando wave to show he was not seriously injured. Had the stewards and race control listened to him about throwing the red flag when the rain came down that hard Lando would have been P1 on the grid as his time was incredible but the crash saw him have to miss the race and Max got to start in P1 then follow the safety car for a couple of laps and “win” I miss Seb being in F1, he was one of the greats just like Max, Lewis and Michael Schumacher.

I saw Senna and Binanchi lose their lives and that zhou crash and how long it took to release him was one of the worst 10 minutes of being an F1 fan as I thought he had passed for sure. Wouldn't have survived without the Halo and the massive size of modern F1 cars. Mate it took about 20 mins to get him out, definitely not quickly and that's with fantastic marshalls

@@ozoioi11 And it's not just drivers walking away from crazy crashes, a lot of crashes just don't happen because the cars got so much better. And probably also because they don't just randomly desintegrate mid-race. Hakkinen came 4th in the 1994 championship despite finishing only 8 out of 16 races, which was more than most drivers behind him managed. If I'm googling correclty, no one ever finished every race of a season until the early 2000s (which is a bit shocking).

3:39 Anybody else notice that the driver being put into the abulance is not Checo? It's actually Karl Wendlinger who basically had the same crash at the same corner back in 94, only two weeks after Senna and Ratzenberger died. Spent a long time in a coma and when he came back a season later he just couldn't race as fast as before. Some later shots in the segment about Checo were also actually from Wndlinger's crash.

Fernando's crash in Australia covered from practically every angle as he barrel rolled through the air sticks out in my mind. In hindsight, it was watching this corner, knowing Brundle had equally crashed there some years ago, this major crash happens, on tv we're seeing all this dust and debris and not even realizing he was there to begin with, dust clears, and you see this body clamor out of this shred of the survival cell which was all that was basically left of the car. On tv everyone's reacting to the first car, and a split second later, you're realizing Fernando has survived the unthinkable in one piece. He was in an entire car and then just basically popped out of nothing alongside a wall. Didn't think there were any miracles left in F1 until years later, seeing Grosjeans crash where quite literally every single safety feature was tested all at once. What Fernando said later, about needing to jumpout to show his mom he was okay, still resonates in my mind. These guys are someone's kid, brother, husband, father...and we all want them to go home safely. Kudos to all the safety features and all the people who fought even against the drivers wishes to get them bolted to these cars.

5:55 i believe it was sir Lewis Hamilton himself that once said: 'If you smash your oponnent off the track, the stewards should not allow you to then still win that race'. Had that call been made (and it should have) , it would have not come down to that controversial last race of the 2021 season.

As you'd know, the stewarding decisions are not based on the outcome, but rather apportionment of blame. The document in 2021 clearly stated that both drivers carried blame for this incident, but that Lewis carried more of it; as such, the maximum penalty they could award was a 10 second time penalty

you are punished for your actions, never the ultimate outcome. Lewis drifted wide on a first lap incident, clearly unintentional. Yes it lead to a huge crash which is unfortunate and really bad for Max but there's no way Lewis intended or desired that outcome. He made a mistake and the mistake was punished. As for Fernando, if you look at the analysis, he deliberately braked early to unsettle the car behind. He then tried to cover it up by radioing in that "his brakes felt funny" on the back straight whilst pumping the brake pedal randomly at speed: he knew he had done wrong, maybe didn't mean to make George crash, but definitely tried to put take him off guard by driving erratically. This is an intentional action which is dangerous. TLDR: Lewis made a mistake which led to nasty consequences. Fernando deliberately tried to unsettle the car behind.

It's been revealed recently that Max is still not completely fine after Silverstone. He still has trouble at some tracks with his vision. That crash was horrible. Lewis got off so lightly. It also took him a full two minutes before he asked if Max was even okay. Protesting his innocence for those two minutes was more important to him. He just put a man in hospital and then went on to celebrate like he'd won the championship. I lost every last shred of respect I had left for Hamilton that day.

same here. Lewis drifted wider and wider, making sure he took Max out. Nearly killed him.

@juchetony1910 I dont believe he intentionally understeered but he certainly didnt make any attempts to stop it after it started. Ultimately the collision was part of tacing but it was the aftermath that was the true story teller. 2. Whole. Minutes. Before he showed an ounce of concern for Max. He showed us that day he's no longer a champion.

Yeah, that cheating shytestain should have gotten instant season DSQ right there, it was way worse than the thing Schumacher did. Alas, teflon 44 NEVER gets any penalty, he LIED under oath to rob Trulli off maiden podium in 2008 and never got any penalty for it!

Same. The biggest problem wasn't even that he crashed into him, even though some might argue it was semi intentional. The biggest issue we take on this is that he just didn't care about what he did and the consequences. That was where his mask fell off and we saw all the bad at once.

Bro stop being biased about Russell you said be can all agree that he is a "clean" driver but he always gets into silly crashes blaming the other part and never himself. And in the crash with Bottas it is 100% his fault how can you not decide when he tried to overtake and RAM Bottas when losing control of his William. He is a great driver but we can tell you are his fan and thats ok, but be a little more unbiased when talking about him.

So I’m confused as to why when someone crashes they don’t radio all the cars to slow down or put out caution lights. I know it’s not always a full course yellow but come on, that car sitting in the middle of the track? Plenty of time to tell everyone to slow down and watch out.

Alonso Brazil 2003 was bad, however, i would put Australia 2016 higher on the list. I mean honestly... everyone who saw that live, has to agree... To all who didnt see it. During the race, the camera cut to turn 5 and showed Gutierrez standing next to his car in the gravel and even the commentators were like "Thats Esteban, but why is he stuck in the gravel. The camera zoomed out and in the barrier there was just a smoking pile of scrapmetal, only a 1/3 of the size of an F1 car. Everyone was like "What is that?" And just like that, Alonso crawled out of that. Saying "Mum is watching, i had to show, im ok!" chills...
