And now Pladins' RNG is (besides skins , one of kogas and dambas abilities) completely gone! so everyone can make the same decks and noone has a disadvantage. A lot mensioned in this video has been reworked/overworked since ob64. And hell yeah the game is still fun and free so just try it out yourself if u are new to it :) edit: just watched the video till the end and ur really right! Only the "all characters are liveless vessels" thing is the one thing i disagree with, but thats an opinion

I agree tbh. I've only been playing since ob57, but i actually like the state the game is in gameplay wise. Yeah i sorta miss some of the old design choices **especially the full customization of characters*. But i feel its made the game more approachable, and i feel its good for its growth. Im currently watching this on sept 15th 2018, and i wanna say i feel the same way when ob64 was release because i've been playing this game since the ob starts but right now paladins is actually fun again the cards system have been improved so much and the only premium aspect of the game is cosmetics stuff, but yeah there is a battle pass system (just like in fortnite lol) but thats basicaly it, the event in the game every couple patch they introduced is actually fun, and the character is fun to play again unless if you're playing competetively, but yeah its still have the meme pop culture references stuff that you dont like, but other than that paladins is fun again (well thats my opinion) so if you see this and havent been playing paladins again maybe you should. But that is all that i have to say so if you see this maybe you can give paladins a shot again so.... Thx

TEEMODO tbh is dead on console and pc, just check today the maximum peak was 15k player which isn't bad, but since their not fixing queue time, fixing match making with noobs and including competitive is just a joke, and their bug and glitch still, yet they perfected cosmetic items than fix the dam game. I think you've thought about some issues a bit too much and it's dug itself under your skin. Take a breather, let the dust settle for a while. Play some offline games, and something that doesn't involve elements of Paladins and such. Paladins does have issues, but some more over the ones in which you've heavily pointed out. Balance, Bugs and New Champion design. Main point: New Champion Design; over 90% of the last load of champions have been generic pew pews who aim for the 13YO "I want to shoot stuff and boost my ego" demographic. Vivian needs to be removed, Talus needs fixing, Viktor needs to not have braindead talents that just reinforce his *I shoot you lots and you die* gun and actually improve his versatility in different playstyles and other Talents also which have been buffed for the sake of making a champion feel better to play whilst making it so ridiculously strong to others that it's broken. I could go on and on, but I'm just going to keep hoping that one day, the bugs and balance will be sorted, especially now we're out of Beta.

I started playing Paladins only recently. I enjoy the loadout system and the gameplay. There is a more hero diversity than in Overwatch. Pretty good design in my opinion. If I wanted lore i would go read a book.

Imo it’s becoming greater every day and even if it’s supposed to bring money in with micro transactions it isn’t something like warframe where it creates the illusion of being a game where playing is just as good as paying,in paladins it’s a reality you can unlock every champion by simply playing. I started playing Paladins about a week or two before cards unbound was removed. I knew it was an OW ripoff and went in expecting it to be a terrible meme that I'd quit shortly thereafter. I did not expect to enjoy it like I did. I'm a big fan of arena shooters. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that they're basically the only type of shooter I enjoy. I can certainly relate to your pain for that reason. The quake-esque arena shooter is a dying genre. Dirty Bomb, the successor to Quake Wars, is hemorrhaging players, and has died and been resurrected repeatedly. It's rough being a person with niche interests. But in an unusual turn of events, your misfortune has actually been to my gain. I guess this is how the people who like the games I once loved feel. See, I've come to hate OW. The map design is terrible. The champions are very limited with little room for skill. There's virtually no shooting mechanics. It's not a game where an individual players can make a huge impact - unless they're terrible. A terrible player has much more impact on the game by not doing their job, than somebody doing their job well. Success is a team effort. There is no room for the individual. Playing tanks sucks because you can't deal damage. Playing healer sucks because you're just chow for the flankers. Playing flanker is great because you have no accountability and you'll only ever die if you're a dipshit. Unlike OW, Paladins is aware of the fact that it is still a shooter. Multiple characters have weapons and ranged attacks. The healers can kill *and* heal. The map design isn't dogshit - there's generally multiple routes rather than a single chokepoint that you need to hide behind the tank for. Some heroes are skillless (*cough*Makoa*cough*) but I don't hate them like I hate Genji (all Genji players should be thrown into ovens. Just sayin'.). In general, Paladins is just much more *fun* for me because it's better at being Overwatch than Overwatch is. OW has more MOBA blood in it than Paladins. Paladins has more shooter blood in it than OW. The only thing I fucking *hate* about both is snipers. The longer I play games, the more I become convinced that snipers are just a mistake. They require a high amount of skill to play effectively, meaning most people who play them will just be useless. And when you do fight a good sniper, it isn't *fun* . It's the only type of class that completely changes the way you need to play the game. How you navigate the map or engage the enemy team is completely different when a sniper is on the field. In general, I'd consider it a very selfish playstyle, because the only person having fun *is the sniper.* At the expense of everyone else in the game. This is, however, a bigger problem with shooters in general, not unique to those two games, and probably a controversial opinion. At least with sniper players.

First of all, whats I want to clarify that I clicked on this video because I thought it was simply the story of how the game has changed over the years, so I loved the video until you started acting like a grandpa talking about how his time was better. I understand that you dont like the game any more than you used to, but the thing is that its much more popular now than it was when it was in the alpha and closed beta. I watch that old closed beta gameplay and I find it extremely no fun, bland and lifeless. If I had seen the game back then for the first time, I probably wouldnt have continued, would have eventually bought overwatch or keep on playing tf2 (I bought ow, but I did not find it that much fun, and Im tired of the developers and biannual patches of tf2). Personally, I find some references very nice and/or funny, and I like that they are placed in such a way that if you dont know them, you usually arent bothered by them and dont even notice there is a reference there, although there are some very cringy stuff haha =P. I dont think I'm a hi-rez fanboy, but I believe that since the publication of the video the developers have been constantly improving the game, and they keep hearing more and more the community, even if from time to time they do some fucked up shit. Things I also want: return from payload mode, reimplementation of the survival mode, even if it means deleting TDM/onslaught. Btw buck mains ftw

The vast majority of the script was record before cards unbound was removed. That's why an addendum was added after that part addressing the fact that they have removed the system and given all the gold back.While they did remove cards unbound and that is a great step in the right direction it doesn't mean we should just look past the fact that it was added in the first place. It's not the first time HI-Rez has made a mind boggling choice regarding the development of this game and others.

seriously though, i like post OB67 paladins. Sure we have our issues but like hell ii'f ever wanna go back to OB28. ir earlier. I like the current state of paladins. Buggy , Yes. But the community is thriving, dedicated to the game. The devs have finally started listening again (somewhat) and the with the new lore the game feels like it can go somewhere. And no the characters aren't memes. The pop culture references are relevant, funny and fit the characters they're placed on (Willo's "it's just a prank, bro" for example) make sense and fit their personality. The games has never been more balanced than now, believe it or not. I remember the days when matches were really just Cassie vs. Kinessa and doing a mental count of the enemy Grover's kills so you'll be able to predict when he ults. I left this game for Overwatch, back in patch 42, because Overwatch was more fun, exciting and fleshed out. I returned to Paladins in 55 and im hooked. I havent updated Overwatch since Chinese New Year's, and i haven't played for more than half an hour since last year Labor day. This game has taken up my time. Paladins is on the way up and i seriously think this is the game at it's best, not its worst. EDIT: I understand you man i do. If the game aint for you it aint for you. But its hard to make the "what it used to be argument" when I cant remember a single point in the game's lifetime in which it was better than it is now. Keyword "better", there were definitely points in which the game was as good as it is now but to be blatantly honest.... *sigh* Closed Beta was not one of them. It never was and isnt now. It was a buggier mess than Present Day Paladins (which is really saying something), Characters were extremely unbalanced, People saw the game as an "inside thing" (similar to 4chan and memes gaining fame) and the game was not capable of competition. Period. If ripping off OW did one good thing, it was forcing Paladins to grow to meet Overwatch head to head. We added a cast of characters that was unique, original and made team comp interesting again. We actually started to balance characters and make the game more fair. We added a ranked mode that fit the needs of the competitive scenes. In the process of stealing everything that made OW good we ended up making Paladins a unique, yet not otherworldly experience. As my friend said recently: The Poor man plays Paladins because he cant afford Overwatch. He keeps playing Paladins because he no longer wants to play Overwatch. TL;DR Its only going up from here, and good luck rejoining the train if you jump off here.

The Keyboard Warrior yea I feel like paladins is very balance now ,basically everyone is viable in some way. While in overwatch......the meta haven't change for like 4-5 season, the balance is a mess , full of no skill high reward hero =.=

@@owenlee7146 the meta has litteraly been the 5 highest skill cap heros in the game plus mercy for half a year than two snipers can into the meta making the second highest skill comp being equally viable and than the lowest skill comp consisting of multiple characters like tanks healers being the least viable but it brought a high skill characters like doomfist and Ana back into the meta along with orisa,pharah,and junkrat and a month or so latter pretty much every character is viable when picked in the right situation like games should be.

@@owenlee7146 my point still stands.either he was talking about dive meta with 5 of the highest skill cap characters in the game or he was talking about the double sniper meta where only really dive or double sniper could be played except on a few maps where multi tank was viable.so he was either reffering too the meta which had the 5 out of six highest skill cap heros or he was talking about the meta that just added in two higher skill cap champions and allowed the main tanks to be switched up.

I started playing in the closed beta when they added kinessa. I remember when skye was unbelievably powerful cause she had her poison bolts act as her regular attack so you could lay a full clip of poison bolts into someone and they would die super fast. I got a key from Ssundee

I do really miss the original mode where you could attack the payload. the only problem I had with that mode was that some players (and this was either lack of knowledge or just being a troll) would go to the wrong point and stay there, sometimes getting into a fight with an enemy doing the same thing. I did enjoy the act of attacking the enemy's base. I've always prefered very objective based competitive games over just kill the enemy games.

HiRez has a pretty good track record and has many original games, Rebooting tribes, making Global Agenda, and even smite that is doing very well. to say this is a copy of such and such, well, it's a copy of golen eye cause it's an fps sure. It has far more variety than overwatch and is actually more interesting. Fortnite came out of nowhere and look what that did to overwatch, now paladins needs to change and adapt. FPS genre is the most competitve game genre. maybe it's just the pastel graphics honestly. Look at what happened to Battlerite, the perma 80$ game that never adjusted the price tag and everyone forgot about it. That game was very good, more of a moba fps.

Eh I’d be hard pressed to say that hi-Rez has a good track record, yes they’ve made many good games but they are quite known for self destructing their own games. You can't call a game a copy if they didn't even get the feels and some characteristics of a another game. Example for paladins, It is set in a medieval environment, while overwatch is set in a sci-fi world. Also the card system of paladins which is not included in OW. (Im not a Hi-Rez fan neither I defend them, I like these two games a lot.) but you can't just call a game a copy just like that. But I also agree about some greediness of the dev, but atleast they are f2p right? So everyone can enjoy or try their games without having regret spending money in a game which after they have buyed, they don't enjoy. (And sorry for my english, I'm not a native english speaker)

The bitterness in this video is amazing. You don't "steal" ideas in a competitive marketplace, you adopt and adapt better ones. Sure, it's cynical and instantly dates your product but business is ruthless. If you don't appeal to customers as much as possible, someone else will. I definitely have issues with the game like the myriad of glitches, presentation issues, outright crashes, and so on. But since I started in 2016 the team has shown a shocking willingness to listen to the community and reverse course on things where other developers would keep on trucking. I realized that some of the art for paladins is used in smite. Which the card situation one of them was the Bastet jump ability. Interesting, early in the video one of the abilities was called chained lighting which is the same art and name they used in Smite for Zues. How did I just notice this.

I started playing early 2017 and I fell in love with paladins. But this game has changed so much, it changed things that didn’t need to be changed for example the fov of mounts has been zoomed out, this may seem really small but I fucking hate the zoomed out feel, it changes asthetics, but I still like it. Just wish they would only bug fix for a while and make better decisions. If they listened to us, the community who has been here for longer and knows what we wants, then that would be great.

you really were too harsh on the game. I am not here to judge what you like and what you don't but there is a limit to everything. truth be told I can't start to imagine how you feel about the gradual steps it took to refine the game from the basics. I started playing the game from ob64 and minimal changes have been happening since then but the game is ton of fun. if you dont like it or something like that it your own choice to leave or to play. the fact that the game is right now among the top 30 most played is enough to show you that they did the right choice in their development over time. am sorry that you feel wasted on the game after emptying out your pockets only to be disappointed by the results but no matter what you say or do it doesn't change the fact that the game is a lot of fun and is a booming business in the gaming world.

I don't get your complaints, the game HAS to change and evolve constantly to create interest and retain an active playerbase. These changes might upset a few people who are nostalgic about how it was previously; but they are what's keeping the game fresh. Yes they ripped off overwatch, yes they jumped on the battlegrounds boat, but those are smart decisions from a business perspective. They also don't harm the consumer as they provide you with options. If there is a free version of Overwatch that almost matches it in quality and fun factor, then I would obviously opt for the free version. Regarding the card system, that is a necessity. The only way to keep players hooked is with some form of progression and rewards. As long as they don't affect ranked play, they are harmless, and at most a minor annoyance to competitive players.

i must say, i played 160 hours of paladins and 160 hours of OW and i believe OW is way way WAY BETTER it has insanely better gameplay, its characters are not as unbalanced and its way more serious... however paladins is WAY more fun, paladins is so incredibly unbalanced that competitive mode feels like arcade in Overwatch and while that is an insult to paladins as it is a complete joke, it is also an incredibly good thing because you acttualy enjoy the game and you feel like you are not playing for the reward of winning but actually for the dumb moments in the game like.. i dont know playing moji and just clicking the two mouse buttons getting u a 5 man kill with absolutely 0 skill required.

Moji,Vivian and koga are broken...too much ammo (Viv and koga) and moji... permanent fire. Koga can kill a tank by himself and he's a flank. (Not normal) Vivian can just fire the whole time and with her ult she didn't need aim at all.

So the old Evie snowstorm ult is removed, the best play momment clip is also remoced idk why Sha lin is mobile durninng q and many more changes. Tried paladins out of frustration from overwatch season 9 ranked (when Brigitta was unlocked to ranked) it was a few weeks before Khan was released. I still play both and am happy with them.

I'm from the future and things look a bit better now though :) However RIP old Payload... I miss the game-mode so heavily, alongwith so many other little bits of gameplay nuances and even bits of the very old UI (before the shop was the main screen, thank god they changed that too). It was a beautiful game before and maybe not it's changed, but it still remains kiiiiinda fun? Yeah, a bit fun to play :) so there. Great job on this video, absolutely loved it.

I started playing Paladins a month ago and I really enjoy the heck out of it. Reminds me a lot to a game that shut down this year called "Gigantic". Honestly I see from where you're coming from. A lot of games have this same problem,they start as something fresh/different and because they aren't getting the numbers the want,they try to change the game over and over to please a different kind of community but you know,shit happens.
