The Royals sent Michael Wacha to the mound after taking the series-opener vs. the Reds and received a strong performance, as Wacha recorded a quality start striking out 9 over 6.0 scoreless innings. The Royals offense was catalyzed by a career night from Dairon Blanco, who made the most of his start by blasting a two-run home run in the 2nd inning followed by his first career grand slam in the 3rd inning. Blanco would go on to drive in another run in the 4th inning giving him a season and career-high 7 RBIs on the night. Five other Royals pitched in RBIs on the evening, highlighted by a 7-run 3rd inning. Angel Zerpa, Chris Stratton, and Carlos Hernández closed out the final three frames in relief of Wacha, giving the Royals a third straight win and securing the series in Cincinnati.
