Body condition scoring is an important farm management tool. Body condition helps to monitor the cow's energy reserves and aids management decisions throughout the lactation.
This short film has been created for farmers and farm staff wanting to implement body condition scoring. It should contain everything you need to know, ensuring you can score confidently with consistency and accuracy.
DairyCo also has a paper based step by step guide and data capture sheets which can be ordered or downloaded from the DairyCo website.
Working with the Royal Veterinary College, as part of the DairyCo research partnership, a short quiz has been developed to allow you to test your understanding of what you have 'learnt' during the film. This quiz can be accessed here - www.dairyco.org.uk/bcs-quiz

So informative to me. Thank you. But, frequently I read approximately 1 BCS higher than your recommendations (for Hosteins), e.g. BCS for older cows be 3.5 - 4.0 at calving.
