After two years of use, the Revros reels I own have held up better than another large brand’s spinning reels that cost twice as much.

Matt, just discovered your channel in my search for info on the Revros reels. Well done! I have the 2000, 2500 and 3000 series and thoroughly enjoy fishing with them. I'm still old school, spooling them with mono but am going to have to learn the braid spooling trick and give it a try. I use braid on all my baitcasters and using them takes be back to my old Ocean City reel and 30 lb Cortland Dacron line back in the late 50's. Yup, I'm rather aged but young at heart.

I'm just getting back into fishing now that I'm nearing retirement. These Daiwa reels are really designed well. The latest REVROS LT has an improved body type starting in 2023 and is a real workhorse. It's hard to beat the price and the advancements that have been flowed into from their top of the line reel designs!

the drag is so smooth on these reels I caught a nice catfish the other day on 6 lb line

I have a daiwa 7500R from 1969 my grandad left me that still have mint gears and was heavly used in salt water for 40+ years every weekend. Ordered bushings for it but looking for a new reel and going to check these out.

Just picked one up yesterday. So far, between the Lew's, Shimano, Abu Garcia, and Daiwa reels I've handled, I think Daiwa and Shimano beat the other 2 brands by a wide margin. I will quantify this by saying I've only handled the more budget minded options from each company, so if I ever go more expensive, that opinion might change.

I have owned dozens of Lews and Abu in the $100-$200 range and the Daiwa Revros has replaced them all. It’s a workhorse.

I agree. I have a 2500 and 1000 reel and absolutely love them for the price. I kayak fish and they’ve been great. Daiwa knocked it out of the park with these.

I like the no bs approach im going to try out the 3000 for salmon fishing people say I need something more expensive but I've been catching lots of 10 plus pound fish on a couple different 30$ reels of different brands but I can feel them starting to stick when I get a big fish or maybe a cast or two later after I land a big one so I want to upgrade to a good 50$ reel so I can get two one for my lure rod one for bait rod the other brand I usually favor sales the same real with different paint for 30$ & 50$ so im going to pick up a Revros thank you for the info

2 year review: sounds legit - let's see how well it held up.

Been catching 3lb blue-fin GTs and groupers with my old Revros 21 ' 2500LT 's and so far it ain't giving-up on me. Might retire it soon after all the green rust and corrosion it picked-up after dropping in saltwater several times. I know its not best for salty but is doable and most of all it created memorable experiences for under $50 bucks.

I have 3 models 3000-c, 4000-c and 6000 this reel is light and good for my Shimano light spin rod.
@dennisgreensill7189Ай бұрын
I own 2 of these a 4000 and 6000. First reel in 30 years of fishing I've ever seen a bearing rust and go to shit (Antireverse bearing). Only 2 years old and never been dunked. Also noticed the back silver plate doesn't seal up against the frame so dirt and or water can get trapped in there very easily and the screws used are absolute trash. That said, it never failed just got noisey and cluckey, now it's fixed its smooth as ever and now I know that bearing needs to be serviced it's not a problem... Probably won't be buying another one though... Like I get it they're good for the price but not quite good enough for my purposes

There older version of this in silver with gold spool is actually better then all my abu garcia spinning reels that are 250-300 canadian. I'm replacing all my spinning reels for this reel next pay no questions asked and selling my others with a smile on my face

Hey there. Which one do you like better or prefer, the 3000 or the 4000 reel?

It depends on the rod but in most cases I like the 3000.

And bearing count does matter to a certain point. The reason being is that bushings will wear out quicker over time and your reel will not have a good fit and finish after just a year or two. I have literally had a bushing deteriorate into hundreds of small pieces and ruin my main gear. So just be careful with bearing count. I would say 5BB and up is usually what you want.
@ricker76er7 ай бұрын
I agree, but some companies will stick like 12 bearings in the handle knob to drive up the bearing count. Placement is important. Of course these are typically the cheap no name companies you find on Amazon and Ali express.

I have had major issues with Shimano and those cold forge aluminum gears . Those gears wear out so quickly. I personal like Lew’s. They are much cheaper than Shimano and Diawa and come with much higher end features. I bought the Lew’s LZR pro for $35 three years ago and it is just the best budget reel out there. It’s better than the Revos. You should check it out. I will say, the Revos and Regal are amazing reels. I just like the Lew’s LZR Pro a little more. Especially for the price.
@MattStarkFishing11 ай бұрын
Lew’s isn’t the Lews of the 70s. The company that licenses the Lews name don’t make or design anything. They actually just import rebranded Doya reels from Korea. I have personally had a lot of issues with them. These Daiwas have been better than all the Lews I’ve owned including the three $199 Lews spinning reels that these Revros replaced.
@Tightt8811 ай бұрын
@@MattStarkFishing Interesting. This $35 Lew’s LZR Pro is amazing. I have actually replace my Shimano Sedonas with the LZR Pro. And I have never had any issues with Lew’s. And I have never had issues with Diawa. I like them quite a bit.
@Tightt8811 ай бұрын
@@MattStarkFishing interesting about Doyo. I have heard this line said before and I have researched it quite a bit. Doyo doesn’t make spinning reels. They only make bait casting reels. And it is true, Lew’s used those Doyo design for the American market. But if you do a little research, Lew’s actually uses American designers for their spinning reels. The spinning reels are still made in Korea but they are designed in the U.S. I mean, just look at the Lew’s design. Does that look Asian? No, it’s clearly American.
@MattStarkFishing11 ай бұрын
Well maybe that explains why everything. I love Lews baitcasters, but my experience has been that their spinning reels don’t last.
