Have you done any investigation into modifying the gear lever that engages and disengages the spool on a star drag reel. the lever is too long and sticks out too much from the reel top of new reels when you disengage the reel the lever will stick out too far thus when you cast the Reel you cannot Palm the reel and apply pressure to the spool when casting to stop any backlashes I have noticed this problem on all newer reels diwia , shimano's Accurate, penn, atvet. My answer is to cut off the top part of the lever it is only plastic with a dremel, cut it flush to the body of the reel and then put a plastic or rubber cup over it. This will also cure the problem of accidentally engaging your reel after you've cast it. give it a try

I enquired about having my daiwa saltist remagged by you You said that you had to get the parts anodised but you never got back to me

Still waiting for anodized out side shoulders, this one had Titanium.
