Isn't this also known as tapping?

The term "Tapping" is used two ways in Pekiti-Tirsia. It can be a movement of the left hand, as in a slap to measure the distance and monitor your opponent's limb. Therefore, there is tapping used in the Break in-Break out drill. In addition, there are drills countering thrust attacks and diagonal strikes that were called "Tapping" drills when I learned them. My guess is some of the terms were simplified for us after Tuhon Gaje got tired of trying to correct our poor pronunciation of the original Tagalog terms.
