Bimbuli Saaru is a traditional and flavorful soup originating from the coastal regions of Karnataka, India. This unique dish is cherished for its tangy and slightly spicy taste, making it a favorite among locals and visitors alike.
Bimbuli Saaru is typically served hot with steamed rice. It can also be enjoyed as a standalone soup, particularly appreciated for its refreshing and appetizing properties.
Ingredients:
1cup thur dal
4 cups water
1 onion sliced
6 cloves garlic
3 green chillis
1 inch pc ginger
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
salt to taste
7 bimblies
1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
For Seasoning:
Coconut oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp asafoetida
1 long chilly broken
1 spring curry leaves
1 tsp bafat powder
Method:
1. wash and soak thur dal for 1/2 an hour.
2. Add onion, green chillies, ginger, garlic and water and boil it till tender or pressure cook.
3. once dal is cooked, add turmeric powder and salt, Add bimblies and cook for 2 mins. Add coriander leaves.
Seasoning:
Heat coconut oil, add mustard seeds, When splutters, add cumin seeds, Asafoetida, red chilly, curry leaves.
Put off the flame and add 1 tsp bafat masala powder,
Pour it hot on the dal. cover immediately.
Serve it with boiled rice and pickle and fried fish.
