Sugar looked up as Jerry and I both said that was Dale racing above. Jerry and Sugar Bear are happily watching Dale and Neil racing together in Heaven and Bear and I will join them in Heaven later. @@GravyHucker I don’t know if they really did to be honest. It was pretty obviously a gag to have him riff while he drove the wheels off the car, on the litany of ‘silly things’ that they’ve always joked that “all Americans say when over here”. I truly hope that people don’t see him or this in that way. Mike is enough of a good sport about it that he seemed to enjoy doing it. And was hilarious also. I hadn’t seen too much of Skinner since he left the truck series, but seeing him in TGT helped to remind me why I like & appreciate him. I’ve never met anyone who didn’t really love the guy.

By the look you could tell he was thinking and has been thinking for a long time about what could have been between him and Sr. Alot of people think that way. Such a huge hole he left in so many peoples lives but atleast people like Skinner and Gordon got some years to look back and smile on. for the two 500s Skinner references '98 & 99'. in 1998 shortly after restart with 70 laps to go Gordon had a run off turn 2 to overtake Dale for 2nd(similar pass he made on Earnhardt late in '97 & '99). Mike went with Dale and gave a huge bump draft to him blowing by Gordon on the outside and then Rusty for the lead in turn 3. Dale never looked back leading all but one lap to win that 500. now in '99 Jeff made that daring pass on Rusty for the lead with 11 laps to go. once they cleared Rusty neck & neck were Skinner & Gordon. coming to 9 to go off turn 4 Earnhardt could've went with Mike(a huge gap opened once Schrader dropped back on the outside)push him to the outside of Jeff for the lead(Waltrip was behind Dale and guaranteed would've went with him to push Skinner). but Dale held his line on the bottom and stayed with Gordon(there was a deal between Evernham & RCR for the 24 and 3 to stay together so maybe that's why). so I can see why Mike was upset at Dale at that critical moment. (a similar deal showed up the next year '00 between Jarrett & Burton when Mark Martin tried to pass Benson for the lead with 14 to go off turn 2 on the outside. DJ went under Mark then Burton who's Mark teammate could've went with him and a line of Fords on the high side then who knows what happens but he didn't...)
@burnsiet3 жыл бұрын
All correct, I felt bad for Mark in 00. But in 99, Mike pushed the 24 past the 3 with 13 laps to go (before they got to Rusty a couple of laps later). So Dale was probably pissed about that, which wouldn't have helped Mike's cause a few laps later. I miss the plate racing from back then. Sigh.

@@ziptiejedi5658 Surprised why? I remember the day Snr died very well! Yes true, its not the biggest sport in UK or Europe, we have 100s of sports and many different types of Motorsport you dont have! We have motorsport magazines that would cover every event including Nascar, Indy car, I remember reading and watching about Mario Andretti and the Unsers, Foyt etc etc! We have satellite television, and 10 years ago before i left the UK i was watching all the nascar races, and Indycar, and sports cars! My friend, sometimes Americans have this view that people in Europe or especially the UK are a bit backward and simple, and we live on a little island like Tom Hanks!! Its not true, we have everything, even dirt oval racing, but not cars with big V8s, we have our versions of "Late Models" I also watch "Hunt the Front" and thanks to the internet and satellite tv , the world is a smaller place!! But what you have in the States is unique,u have a big country, with space for huge tracks like Talladega etc, our oval racing is mainly on 300 400 and 500 yrd paved or dirt ovals, and our cars are smaller than yours etc etc! Basicaly ive spent 40 years watching F1 etc, but what you have is F..... amazing, but more to the point different!! One day I will come, but i fear i will never leave!
@ziptiejedi56584 жыл бұрын
@@abritandhisbikeinpoland6802 I didn't mean any disrespect. I was just saying it's rare for a Britt or really anyone outside of the states to like Nascar. I think its pretty cool that you like Nascar. Usually any time I hear people outside of the US comment on Nascar they always have the same answer. They say its too easy any they just drive around in circles. The same thing with Drag racing. A ton of people think that Drag racing and Nascar take no skill and that anyone can do it. Hopefully you get a chance to come to the states and experience Nascar and if you have the chance you should definitely do one of the driving experience programs most Nascar tracks have. Its not very cheap but they let you take out a real Cup car and make a few laps around the track. I've done it a Dover and I have to say it was Fucking amazing. I think I got up to the 120-140 mph region. I know its not all that fast but feeling the g forces in the banking and how much grip those cars have is pretty amazing.
