Was there in person, my mom and I went to celebrate my 22nd birthday a few weeks early. Last race we were able to go to before she lost her battle with cancer. So glad we got to see the 3 win one more time.

My mother passed away when I was 6 years old. My father was at the Daytona 500 in 2001, sitting in turn 4. I’ve always been a huge earnheart fan, but after dale won this race I cried my eyes out. My father saw, and said, “boy, you didn’t cry when you’re mom died, but you cried when dale won at Daytona”

Any time an Earnhardt was leading the crowds went wild. Saw/heard it several times at different tracks. If you were at a track during qualifying or practice people were loud.

Arguably a throwback to an earlier era of restrictor plate racing, like the early 90s. Cars were a bit more spaced out, and didn't require as much help to pass your competitors

I was at this race. I left that track with a hoarse voice from hollering. Was one HELL of a night. Dale Jr can wheel a car around a super speedway with the best of em. Just wish Dale Sr could have seen it.

I was at this race with my then-fiance. As a big Earnhardt fan, I was so excited that the #3 went to victory lane while I was there, with an Earnhardt behind the wheel no less. Bittersweet memories of both.

I was at my grandfather's motorhome at Cape Cod watching this. I didn't know at the time how important it was, other than Dale drove his father's number. How fitting is it that he does it in one of Sr.'s most iconic schemes, while hearing his father was/would be inducted into the hall of fame. Just incredible. Haven't watched much NASCAR recently, but watching this brought back some of that good old fashioned serotonin that I needed.

I remember watching it live and just remembering that Jr won, and wanted him to win because of the nice touch with the sponsors. And thanks for uploading more Xifinity races, with this one and 04 Nashville. Because, if you take all of the Myrtle Beach, it was just two races, like the trucks.

The I seriously think Dale Sr was more aggressive in the Wrangler car now don’t get me wrong he was still aggressive in the black car but I think a lot of drivers got out of his way later in his career. I just remember the run ins with Bodine DW Bill Elliott Tim Richmond and numerous others. It was like he was staking his claim during those years.

Amazingly, NASCAR’s 720p60fps looks better than Dave W’s 1080p30fps version of this same race. No surprise considering NASCAR brings in higher quality, & Dave’s feed is pretty much an upscale of that 720p format.

That was part 2 and the final part of the healing process. Part 1 was when Jr. went on to win the Pepsi 400 in the Cup race in 2001, months after is dad's death at the very same race track. If I'm wrong about the year Jr. won the Pepsi 400, please let me know and I will edit my comment.

It would be so awesome if the teams and drivers got together and held NO RULES races at Daytona and Talladega. Not sanctioned obviously. An exhibition race. ZERO rules. The Pay Per View would be worth a "Kazillion" dollars.. The 30th place finisher would break the current track record. Taller gears..? Twin turbo-charged Chevy 572 c.u. engine..? 50 gallon fuel cell? ANY aero you want..? All the money in the world..? Go for it.. Do it.
