As I've written before, Jeremy has a deep mastery and understanding of the movement phase. As soon as lothlorien made a mistake, I could see the writing on the wall. The banner left in the open with access to line of sight was a massive faux pas, as well as having Celeborn without heavy armor. D7 would have made a big difference, expecially since Dale has a very limited access to wound bonus. Lothlorien, somehow, failed to defend or threat efficiently.

@Joan T The scenario options definitely didn't especially favor Lothlorien, kind of a tough choice either way.

Both armies are sick, amazing paintjob. Since I started watching you I started to use the veto system with my friends: they like it too, it makes Games more balanced. Cheers from Italy

Zeno's dichotomy. Everything becomes impossible when you divide it up into infinite fractions, because it's impossible to complete infinite tasks. Zeno was wrong (or we wouldn't be able to walk 1 meter). But his logic stands in MESB. Don't divide your superior fighting force into a bunch of little chunks that can be picked off at leisure. Don't stand your banner in the middle of nowhere exposed to enemy shooting, and away from combats (where it would be doing huge work on shielding f5 and 6 elves) and don't forget your cav have expert rider.
@jeremyshannon74822 жыл бұрын
Got to get the opposite objective while defending your own. You have to split up at some point.
@judgejudyandexecutioner.52232 жыл бұрын
@@jeremyshannon7482 Then don't defend your own? In this format, loser goes home, winner plays on. So a win by 1 point is as good as a win by 10. Lothlorien have cav, and woodland creature, Dale don't, so it's likely Lothlorien can move the enemy objective much faster, and therefore further, thereby getting more points. Also, Dale have a squishy general easy to get points off (1 fate and f5 vs an f5/6 army) and Lothlorien can and should have played in such a way where the aim was to walk down the dale, stay tight, use that banner and that f value to the fullest and break dale, with your cav breaking off into the forest to grab the objective when the opportunity presents itself. If both sides manage to retrieve the enemy objective, but your elves have outfought the dale, you win. If both sides manage to retrieve the objective but you've killed or wounded Brand, you win If both sides break, no one wounds a general, but between the fact that you have cav, that move full speed through forests, and don't dismount to grab the objective, and Celeborn can immobilize the dale model with the objective, and you can leverage those into you moving the objective off the board or into your own half, you win. I think the Lothlorien player was thinking to much, and ended up getting way too cute, and gave up all the advantages he had.

@@simwify That's a cop out. Obviously it's easy to criticize and I certainly don't play perfectly in most of my games, but this was an unmitigated disaster of a game from the Lothlorien player.

I always enjoy the editing on your battle reps, wish you could post more! The terrain and models always look great, and you have lots of great players show up! I feel like the lothlorien army was too elite. This army really needed some sword and shield Frontline, even if only for the +1 to wound when backed up by the pikes.

Really good batrep! As a lothlorien player myself a very painful one to watch. Celeborn has magic which was never used, also he is defence 7 when given heavy armor and shield which is worth it. Last thing was the banner being left in the open away from all fights... Very mismatched in terms of player skill, would be nice to see similar skill levels play each other. Well done and I am excited for the next one.
@woodlandcreature88572 жыл бұрын
You're maybe being a little too harsh, if lothlorien didn't split up they would risk being hemmed in, and wouldn't be able to go after objectives/leaders. I see what the elf player was going for, just unfortunately for him the dice weren't on his side. Jeremy is an incredible player, a true strategist, and the fact lothlorien were able to hold out so long was fairly impressive.

He did use magic, cast immobilise.. I’m also a Lothlorien player and I think the main issue is army composition. Spamming Guard of Galadrhim court like that at low points is a waste, as is taking Celeborn at low points. Should take Haldir, Rumil a couple of guard, couple of riders and the rest regular warriors.

@@woodlandcreature8857 if it was a friendly game no worries, but he said at the start eight tournament veterans. So I expected veteran level gameplay. Must have missed the spell casting (sorry about that).

@@thefinalseries yeah I agree, the list could have been better. It is hard to play against large model count as well. But it is a tournament so you have to build a versatile list that can go up against armies like that.

@@purerel It might be or not be a suboptimal list. but i think it was said here and there that they were trying to make armies that are fun and maybe a little different rather than going full competitive. the easterling player took an amdur without horse on purpose (and he is afaik a very experienced easterling player)
