That's a fact! Back when I was breaking, training, and showing, I collected snaffle bits. Only used a couple of them. Had to leave that beautiful 20-year collection, plus a lot of expensive horse training gear behind, when my son and I had to flee from a horrible situation to another state. I'm sure it all got thrown away or sold. 😭

I hate it when I got my hat, boots, ect, and people will say "are you a cowboy?" Or people who know me go "look at you lookin like a cowboy" or my favorite is when I deployed and a middle eastern guy asked if any of us were from Texas. Everyone pointed at me. And he's like "you're a real cowboy!" No. No I am not. I have never and will probably never say I'm a cowboy. I'm Texan. I'm country. I'm no cowboy, wrangler, roper, buckaroo... hell I'm not even a farmer or rancher. Ya I have 50 acres. Ya I hunt, go to rodeos, so on and so on. But im no poser. I hate being called a cowboy. I respect it. Dont get me wrong. I just don't want to be labeled a title I haven't earned.

i really appreciate this. Brings back lot of memories, 2 things: ive been preached my entire life. 1: Never, ever, ever,, ever. get on / off your horse from right side. (I never got that) This one is actually true and I agree with. But 2: its is a calf tie or tie down string, not a pigging string... Back in the day they used to rope you and drag you around the arena for calling it that.

Gotta say....had a horse for 17 years. Family had him for 22 total. Never ONCE did a bit ever enter that horse's mouth. Not once, ever. We used a bosal with him from the time he was a yearling. Not that I object to bits (unless they're spade bits...those are just cruel and if you use one, become a better horseman or sell your fucking horse) but we just never had to use one. So...63 bits? Well, I never claimed to be a cowboy. I'm just a hillbilly from southwest PA.
