Dalek Blender Tutorial 01 - Skirt, Hemis, Fender

This has been a really informative series, so far, and I learnt so much. But I really want to carry on!!!!

I'm sorry, I've tried, for so many hours I have tried, but this tutorial really is for at least someone with reasonable experience of Blender, not a beginner. The version of Blender used here is now out of date and several settings have moved, maybe an expert would know this, but I didn't. Also there are many things that are glossed over in a moment which are very important, the result is that for a beginner the method show is very 'fragile', deviate from in one tiny away, which won't be obvious at the time and you will likely have to start again. The 10 copies of the dalek file my hard rive are testament to this.

Dalek was the first thing I made in Maya. Now, learning blender, decided to do the same. Thanks for the tutorial :)

Ok so at the 25:00 it seems that converting from mesh to curve isn't working. Do you have a way around it?

I duplicated the edges again and it worked. Seems you just have to duplicate it from the skirt object, then duplicate it again from the original duplicate, then delete the original duplicate. Then you are able to convert to a curve and continue with the instructions

At 19:1 when I tried to do do the instancing faces thing, the hemi's went all bubbly so how do I fix it?

Heya make sure that the origin point of the hemis and the skirt are the same. Ctrl + A of everything to reset the location, rotation and scale then set the origin of both things to the world centre

7:50 im stuck with the bridge edge loops instead of them being smooth down the skirt is dented with triangles

@@henryarcher6822 For anyone else in the future. I selected the four vertices of what would be each individual skirt panel, and filled (press F) it in. Doing them one at a time.
