as someone who builds Daleks from all sorts of materials and have done a mig welded one at my first job, you've got to take in mind that the heavier you go the harder it will be to operate, trust me I know, unless your building the NDP (new Dalek paradigm) that you can stand up in you will have n chance on operating a metal one or complete timbre build, Ive done countless Daleks from materials like timbre, metal and now GRP over the years and the best to go with are the biggest, not the 60s or 70s maybe the 80s due to them being a bit taller, but depending on how tall you are people tend to sit in a standard Dalek and pull tem selves across like on a desk chair , some are powered by mobility scooters yes, but like I say I did make one from mild steel that was only 2mm all the way round on all parts but will get very heavy and hard to operate still hoping to see how the builds going as its been 2 years since this upload and are you on project Dalek because there is lots of us over there that can help and give advice on the Daleks and builds Cameron

nice looking cuts there mate, are you concerned about the weight of the fender?

Hi Jimmy. Not really, it was my intention to have a fairly substantial and heavy base. I'm intending to motorise it, so wasn't too worried about something light enough to wheel around with my feet. No doubt there are other disadvantages to weight that I am ignorant to, but I think I can work around these. The ultimate goal was to have something robust and sturdy. Thanks for watching 👍
