Installing the seal.Wood Fire Piston

Install a seal on the fire mortar to prevent air from escaping the cylinder
Easy-to-get thread seals of the right size, wrapped around a tight plunger
Treating gobek fire
Caring for gobek fire so that the effectiveness of gobek is not reduced.
1- Avoid hot/sunburned temperatures
2 - Avoid dust getting into the barrel / mortar
3 - Clean the bottom hole of the barrel/mortar from tinder and lubricant dirt
4 - If you use charcoal, clean it as often as possible, because it is rather hard/dusty
5 - Seal or seal lubricate enough thick lubricant (grease), not excess
6 - If the gobek takes a long/weekly break, the plunger is not inserted too deep
How to use goblets
1- Fill tinder at the tip of the plunger sufficiently/not to overflow
2 -Insert the plunger tip into the hole
barrel with the limit of the rear seal
3- Hold the barrel tightly, pull the top quickly, and pull it out quickly
4- Take out the tinder with a stick, and put it on the tinder bundle

Have you ever tried to use cotton ball into the end of piston and see if it works? How about fuzzy stuff from cat tail plant? Im not sure if you have cattail there but was wondering if that would work. You did a great job Brother!

I've tried using cotton wool however I used a bigger piston as compared to what I was using in this video. Basically, cotton wool and cattails burns are a higher burning temperature. That is why cotton wool and cattail can be easily ignited by using a ferro rod as it produce spark of a higher temperature.

@@zipshed it can still be possible but it requires a bigger piston so as to produce a stronger compression and create a higher temperature spark. It also requires multiple tries to get an ember. Char cloth is fine however try changing the material from a cloth to a finer material such as a tissue paper. That will be a better tinder for your fire piston

​@@zipshedI make my charcloth using a worn piece of 100% cotton T shirt and put that into a metal Altoids mints box put a small hole in the lid about the size of pencil eraser I see mine on the coals after cooking and take it off when it stops smoking I have no trouble getting it to ignite in a fire piston made with a 1/2" dowel that has a 1/4" deep hollow in the end Good Lucky I hope this helps
