We live across the ranges and get frosts until August/September. I was told to take the mulch off in winter and put very black compost around my plant roots to attract and hold the heat to protect the roots. So I guess the mulching for areas without frost?

Gr8 video. Wish I was closer and had a couple of acres. Any experience of fruit trees in large patio pots (+25 gal) with a non-woven bag liner to inhibit root binding??

Hi - you said to prune bare root plant but I didn't see anything on that. I have a guava that has lots of leaves but they are not doing well since the plant came bare rooted... any advice?? Thanks

Guavas are evergreen and not something we would sell bare rooted which are only deciduous trees. Even in winter they will be keeping their leaves.

What is the harm in placing the mulch against the tree?

As far as I understand it you want to keep the bark of the tree above soil level dry as the bark is not used to constant water.
