Sounds to me that the Dali's have a warm, full bloodied sound with good bass extension and rich mid range and whereas the ATC's deliver a more accurate, transparent, analytical sound - So for lovers Rock, fusion go for the Dali's for the Classical music lovers, light jazz and vocals go for the ATC's.
@zedalive4764 Жыл бұрын
pretty much all ATC's are flat frequency response speakers, the philosophy of this manufacture is to produce as accurate speakers as possible. Dali's accentuate bass and select part of the treble responsible for lush and details ('prestige'), the philosophy of that manufacture is to produce as attractive sound as possible, but not necessarily the most realistic sound possible. in my opinion it's easier to get a good sound with speakers like Dali, while quality flat response speakers like ATC require much effort to get that magic out of them - however if you succeed, the magic from them will be a real one. the rest is pretty much about the type of music the audiophile is listening to. there's music which simply requires flat response speakers to make it sound real and great, while there's also music which speakers like Dali will reward with a great sound

thanks. I think I did not know what I was doing here in the rubicon recording 😅 -- doesn't sound accurate how it is in real life (volume is lower than ATC clip and the position is near the floor thats why all the mids are lost in the bass), also ATC was using silver cables. (it was shot on different days). So apologies and good ear for noticing something was off in the rubicon clip. For an accurate recording, see my later recordings of the Rubicons. Very good analysis. The sonic differences are also due to design decisions. The Danish school (Dali and also Dynaudio) go for ports which gives deeper but at the tradeoff of less control (slower transients, muddier). The Danes also roll of the treble to make bad recordings more listenable but it also makes female vocals unnaturally dark and also they exaggerate the mid-treble to compensate for the lack of extension.. The ATC dual suspension tweeter allows it to roll off higher while maintaining treble control and without the need for a mid-treble hump.

atc is almost double the price of dali. it's not a fair comparison. the dali actually has better bass extension but the atc sounds like Dali has a extra curtain in front of the speaker. the transparency of the atc make the music sound as it's live
@mykeldg2 жыл бұрын
the dali similar if not a bit more expensive. Though this demo terribly does not do justice to the dali at that time because i had bad room treatment back then. The dali being ported created some problems with midrange suckout and a bit boosted bass. Atc being sealed is more immune. But yes atc has great transparency and balance

@@mykeldg my mistake on the price. I thought it's the smc20. They are both very good speakers. It all comes down to personal taste. I have listened to the Rubicon 2 and 8 live and they are superb sounding speakers, just right for my taste. I have never auditioned the atc live. In this video shows the speaker has good transparency, but sometimes this causes the speaker to be too bright. I don't like high treble speakers as they get get stressful to listen after a period of time

Do you think with more powerful amp atc can outperform dali?
@mykeldg4 жыл бұрын
that's possible since they are only lacking in bass which a high power amp can help with. Then again, improving the amp will also improve the Dali. A youtube reviewer (audiofool) reviewed the ATC using 300W amp and he said it improved the bass but was still missing bass. He loves the ATC more than the Dali. Whathifi also reviewed Rubicon 2 vs SCM 11 and they said : "There’s real agility and nimbleness to the sound that makes long-standing favourites, such as the £1200 ATC SCM 11s, sound a tad ponderous and wallowing."

@@mykeldg from your recording atc sound brighter than dali are they in real?
@mykeldg4 жыл бұрын
@@lalit9012 If based on measurements, both are neutral. ATC has a bit of bumped up mids and 100hz region which will give a warmer sound. Rubicon 2 is more neutral in measurements but will have more extended bass and highs as well as lower distortion. here are the links to measurements: ATC www.alpha-audio.nl/review/multitest-monitor-luidsprekers-1400-2200-euro/2/#jp-carousel-68607 DALI www.alpha-audio.nl/review/multitest-monitor-luidsprekers-1400-2200-euro/4/#jp-carousel-68632 In this recording, I feel like it doesn't give the rubicons justice since all it captured was too much bass. The ATC being sealed did not have this problem in the recording.

@@mykeldg agree and yes overall rubicon 2 seems more complete speaker. Infact through all youtube i think they are even more engaging then kef r3.

lalit agrawal i demoed r3 at the store before i bought the Rubicons. It was great too but for me I prefer the rubicon 2, more layered, expressive & rhythmic without sounding metallic. The r3 is more neutral & focused while the rubicon sounds more energetic - a bit harman curve sounding. However kef r3 destroys the Rubicons in sub bass- it has very good extension below 40hz.

ATCs are winners in my opinion, based on every song in this recording. Everything is clearer, more defined, balanced, natural. Dalis sound like boom boxes, muddled, bass is exaggerated. Trying to over compensate for their size :)

@mykeldg4 жыл бұрын
Christelle S considering atc is used by many artists in studios, i think ATC voices are more correct/realistic. The dali sound in this demo is not accurate, the mic is not picking up mid frequencies well due to the bass. But in real life the dali has neutral voices albeit slightly leaner especially compared to ATC. But for my taste I find the ATC sound more studio-like (can be boring for some people) while the Dali sounds more fun and engaging.

@@christelles9905 Proac supposed to be very good as well. From what i've read, ATC has class-leading mids because it uses dedicated mid dome inside the woofer (i.e. scm 11 is 3 way, the dust cap is a mid driver) But for my taste and limite experience, I find Dali has better details, layering, bass, rhythm, but vocals is a less warm.

@mykeldg3 жыл бұрын
Haha yes forsure. The rubicons arent vshaped in real life and you are right that they need much better room/placement, if i pull them out more its neutral; the atc doesnt have this problem because of its sealed design . Also both speakers are not driven to their full potential with just an onkyo 30w amp.

what does high current mean? the amp doubles at 4 ohm load and has 600VA transformer. but yes, this amp is definitely outclassed by the ATC.
@tadejjj2 жыл бұрын
I am really not technical person, so I cannot properly answer your question. Information about current is rarely shared by manufacturers, good indication about amp ability to drive speakers is damping factor. I own 11s for 5 years and I know they sounded so thin and overanalytical with amps with low output current.
