When i was around 12 or so, i was at the grocery store with my mom. I wanted a game informer magazine but knew my mom wouldn't ever let me get it, so i snuck it up my shirt. Long story short, my mom found me with it, brought me to the front of the store, whooped my ass (spankings not a literal beating) in front of everyone, made me bring the magazine to one of the clerks at the register and apologize. After i got done apologizing through my tears, my mom tells the employee, "He's all yours. Call the police, make him work, do whatever you want with him. My son would know better, I didn't raise a thief." I literally thought my life was over, that i would be going to jail or working at this store for the rest of my life to pay off a magazine. Luckily, the clerk at the register took pity on me and said, "Well, this is unfortunate, but I do believe your mother will handle you more than any officer or I could. I hope you learned your lesson." My mom yanked me out of that store and into the car so fast that i was almosy begging that the police would show up and take me. My mom may not have been the best mother, but that's one lesson I will never forget. Even while typing this out, I still get the same pit in my stomach that I did that day. I've never even considered attempting to steal after that day. Shame on his dad for allowing this behavior to happen. Unfortunately, kids were involved but I alerted police and we found a clever way to address it and get items back to vendors. It sucks the hobby has come to this. If the show you're at has showcases for rent you can consider putting higher value cards in them. Sharing this video with show staff at your event could help you identify the kid for the future. Yeah I agree. Worst thing was getting into MTG and trading with the local comic shop and they tried to low-ball me on MTG cards... insinuating at first they were open to trading older vintage and then pushing new cards on me...for silver age comics that easily worth 2-3 times what each of the cards they were pushing on me.

I recently had nearly my entire collection of Pokémon stolen out of storage, leaving only a small Ultrapro box of a few slabs I was keeping separate. 20 years of collecting Tomy figures, B.K. toys, box sets, 1-off random merch things, and thousand and thousands of cards... Several binders of ultrarares and oldschool cards, and several tins. Someone broke in amd rummaged through my possessions, trading only a pile of human defecation in the hallway for my life long collection. Seeing your face as you realized your front page was missing those cards made my stomach turn... Ive only just recently begun watching show streams such as yours and its filled me equally with passion for beginning anew and heavy loss when I see cards I pulled from packs selling for several hundred dollars... Keep making awesome videos and pushing the hobby forward, thank you. And thank you to anyone who decided to read all of this rambling, you rock ♥️

I don't think the dad really caught up maybe a bit at the end he seemed to be pondering why he son kept grabbing them from him. I'm a mom and I taught my children, now 21, 18, & 17, to shop the way I was taught. We put our hands behind our back unless we intend to buy something. If we touch it, we are planning to actually buy it. Otherwise, hands behind our back. It's helpful with compulsive shopping too. Having your hands behind your back makes your brain register the movement of your arms to pick up an item, which gives your brain time to reflect on the cost/whether the expense is worth the purchase.
