Dallas City Hall at 40: IM Pei’s Legacy in Dallas - Dallas City Hall Lobby, March 29th, 2018, 1:00 p.m.
The Dallas Municipal Archives, City Secretary’s Office hosted a one-hour panel discussion with Willis Winters, FAIA, director of the Dallas Park and Recreation Department; Louise Elam, RA, assistant director for Planning, Facility and Environmental Services in the Park Department; and Ian Bader, FAIA, Partner, Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, LLC.
Panelists discuss Dallas City Hall’s history, the building’s impact on the architectural landscape of Dallas, and the city’s decades-long relationship with Pei Cobb Freed and Partners. John H. Slate, city archivist, serves as host and moderator; the panel is introduced by Kristi Nedderman, assistant city archivist. March and April, 2018 marked the 40th anniversary of the dedication and move-in to Dallas’s present city hall.
The event included a pop-up exhibit on the construction and dedication of Dallas City Hall and the reading of a statement from Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, commemorating the anniversary of the building.
