Way before Making The Team, there was a famous moment where choreographer Judy Trammell developed her reputation as one tough cookie. She warned several DCC training camp candidates to lose weight. Back then, Judy was more famous than Kelli Finglass. Since Making The Team, Kelli has become the more prominent of the two.

Even after the controversy with all the cheerleaders coming out to complain about being fat-shamed and mistreated, she stayed true to herself. XD I appreciate her being blunt though. Some of these girls are spoiled, and have never been called "fat" a day in their lives. So it's distressing. But it's good to learn that you're not gonna fit the mold everywhere, and can't just skate by on being cute. Because you're not always gonna be the CUTEST. Or even top 20, depending on the room.

@@katefiene3861 It’s really like they’re being ‘pimped out’ so to speak. It's funny, since they started putting this on TV I'm used to seeing them in the 2 piece outfits for everything, even auditions they're required to wear 2 piece outfits. It's interesting, because even though this was over a decade ago, the outfits & hair, I'd have guessed it was from maybe the early 90s. I hope she didn't tell the girl in the red to loose weight, she was really thin as it is

These women sign up to be on one of the most famous and recognized cheerleading teams of all times. They know there are extremely high standards and most of the time no one is going to cookie cut it for you, especially the people that are in charge of making what you do perfect. These women know what they sign up for and are ready to handle it because they want this and it is their dream. If hearing criticism from your boss hurts your feelings then this isn't the job for you. Hence the reason as to why some of the comments of people saying this is wrong and it's mental abuse yet would never be able to make the team themselves let alone take the criticism. Hats off to these cheerleaders for being committed to what they do and not taking it personal when they're told they can be better.

@lluthra Yes I saw that too! & Kelli's reaction was "We've NEVER had to tell anyone to GAIN weight" & her eyes boggled LOL. The girl was suffering from a medical issue in her upper GI tract, causing her digestive system to go wacky. But, it looks like Kelli & Judy DID understood this when explained to them & wanted her to simply be healthy. They were just making sure that she was eating. The girl told them "YEAH I AM eating. Eating everything in sight to gain weight" haha. She made the squad!

Put a finger down if you’ve felt really bad about the way your body is by watching this show because you see these girls who are skinnier than you being constantly told they need to lose weight. Like ever since they pointed out a girl’s arms were fat in an audition I’ve checked my arms in mirrors. And that girl being told to lose weight in her stomach and the other in her face hit me, because those are the areas I got anorexic for. I binged watched this show during quarantine because my studio temporarily closed, and I missed dancing with my girls, but moments like this made it hard to watch for a girl in her late teens.

The whole mentality of this team is outdated. They are not pro women. They abuse women, they want professionals yet do not pay or treat them as professionals and Kelli and Judy are part of this!! I am not saying weight is not a warranted discussion of an athletes success, it certainly is, however an athlete in what is presented as a professional team, needs to be treated as such in EVERY aspect for this to apply. The differences in treatment between the football (all-male) team and the cheer (all female) team is huge. The fact that'they know what to expect from the outset is absolutely no answer, as saying being on this team opens doors in the future is also not! The organisation comes across as utterly hypocritical & I don't know how they are still getting away with it. Kelli and Judy should be in support of people working towards equality and if that means a sacrifice of some sort or getting into hot water somewhat on their part, they should being doing it!! I absolutely see that things surrounding such issues are sometimes ridiculous and far fetched but in this case that is far from the truth and only makes me feel more strongly about this and other such teams in such organisations. Stop promoting empowerment, being forward thinking, wholesome etc, etc, but then say nothing about the truths behind closed doors and standing aside such practices!! I don't know why but this issue just really p***'s me off?!

I've been a Cowboys fan since 1978 but this is one thing about the organization that bothers me. These women aren't anywhere near overweight and they are being told to lose more weight. A couple of seasons ago on Making the Team there was one that was underweight and they still told her to slim down. Look how much thinner the squads are now compared to the 80s or even 1999 or 2000. Jennifer Lopez is a great dancer but would she be told she was "too heavy" for the uniform? That's messed up.

At the :58 mark, the picture on the wall (viewer's bottom left) behind the girl talking looks SO much like Abigail Klein. But if this documentary was made in 2002, it can't be her because Abigail didn't make her debut until 2006 - 2007 ish when she was featured on Making The Team Season 2. Fellow DCC fans - help me solve this mystery! Who is the girl in the picture?! Don't you all think she looks like Abigail?

MANY many MANY men LOVE, LUST AFTER, and MARY "thic" women with some love handles to grab. They like seeing body parts bouncing. But the only ones being presented in a sexual manner are skinny, even in most porn. So even men sometimes feel secret shame that they actually prefer heavier women. It's absurd to lock "sexy" into this rigid box of only 1% of the population of rail thin women.

Rachel Trull I recently saw a cheer squad that was visibly out of shape, flabby, unfit. It gave me the impression they were undisciplined and didn't take their position seriously. I lost respect for their organization and it reflected poorly on their team too. I respect people with discipline and high goals and standards, and the DCC girls are some of the most exemplary, not only in their appearance but in their choreography, dancing, and showmanship. They exude pure excellence and that inspires me to be better as well.. don't attempt lower other people's standards so you can feel better, strive to meet theirs instead.

Judy and Kelly both are awful human beings. Judy raised a nasty daughter Cassie too who you could see was also verbally abusive to her teammates after she joined the squad (based on favoritism not talent). Absolutely rotten to their cores. Of course dancers and other performers have standards so that they can physically do the work the best they can and fit the costumes, but there is not an ounce of professionalism or care for any of these women who this organization has exploited for decades.
