Jock and Bobby (and pretty much everyone) were so duped by JR - that really was what made the series tick because the audience knew it. When Jim Davis died, the writers were stuck; so they evened out Bobby and JR. I think the whole Jock's will story-line gave the show really high ratings, but it was never the same after that.
@itsmylife8426 жыл бұрын
@Dwight Patton Yes, he certainly was. He was the only person that could ever completely keep J. R. under control. And even he had trouble doing that some of the time. Once Jock died, J. Miss Ellie was wrong. And Bobby and Jock were wrong for pushing JR out when JR got shot. They should have held things down until JR got better and then turned the company back over to JR when he got better. JR paid his dues while Bobby fooled around. Bobby cut and run and got rewarded for it. But when Gary ran away, Jock called him weak.
@thecitriusinklinggames75322 жыл бұрын
“ This is a Ewing Company” that’s what Jock told J.R. when he told him to include Bobby in the business. Bobby had married Pam and he was tired of the 3B’s booze, broads and blackmail missions that J.R. was sending him on. J.R. Had no intentions of sharing his power with his brothers.
@titanstorage71042 жыл бұрын
Actually, Bobby stepped up to the plate when JR was convalescing. He made Ewing Oil honest instead of dishonest and malicious. He didn’t run away when he was needed. JR felt Ewing Oil was his toy and no one else’s. The name on the “company” is Ewing, not JR.

He even walked away from the breakfast table on Jock. And when Jock got up to follow Bobby and straighten him out, Miss Ellie stopped Jock. So J.R. was not the only manipulative character on this show. The only honest and innocent characters on this show were Digger Barnes' sister Maggie, Ray Krebbs' aunt Lil, and Harv Smithfield.
