Nick I don’t believe people are upset about the negative discussions about Klay, it’s about the negative discussions about the team as a whole. I mean Mavs fans have to hear negative speculations about the team from National Media hating on them as it is? Remember how Kidd cursed out McMahon after a game because Kidd was fed up with the guy’s negative attitude towards his team. Lots of Mavs fans are no different. Mavs went to the Finals and national media acts like that was the worst thing to ever happen to the NBA? Every team plays every team in the NBA so in my opinion scheduling doesn’t matter as much as talent and depth matters. This looks like the deepest most talented team in the NBA so what’s wrong with having shows where we can flex on the NBA and not look like we are that concerned with teams we already won against when it mattered most, like OKC? Did we not beat OKC by 42 points after the trade in the regular season then knock the #1 OKC off in the playoffs? Yeah man the narrative that OKC is going to repeat as the #1 seed in the west is a lazy narrative man. It’s false narratives like that that got Tim McMahon cussed out after a game by the head coach. To say that OKC’s front court or backcourt is on par with Dallas’s is just a flat out lie. OKC adds two so-so players and all of a sudden OKC is better??? That’s such BS just like anyone saying Anthony Edwards is close to MJ as a player is a lie. Edwards is Michael Finley way more than he is Michael damn Jordan. National media hates on our team so why do local Mavs media poke holes at a team with a bench that could more than likely turn a team like Toronto into a #5 seed in the east? I might could understand if the Mavs lost in the 2nd round but to win the west and have to listen to National Media say that OKC Minnesota Denver had down years in the playoffs and the Mavs got lucky is such a lie. Do a show or a series and rank rosters 1-13 and be truthful when you do so and let the facts dictate the narratives? The schedule hasn’t a lot to do with anything as much as talent and health do. Is Luka Kyrie and DLive all going to be healthy and play a minimum of 65 games because that matters waaaay more than a schedule. And yes poking holes at Klay like he might be the remains of THJ is so beyond stupid. There’s just no need for that type of criticism for a player with the skins on the wall to be talked about along those lines. That type of discussion is for a player like Naji or Quenton, who both can definitely play but haven’t made near the contributions towards winning like Klay Thompson has? If Klay had signed with the Fakers and LeBalco do you think they’d be creating negative false narratives about him and their team? Hell no! Not too sure why we’re doing this in Dallas having just made it through the finals and no one took the Mavs to a game 7? Look at the Mavs record after the trade through the Finals and look at their additions without acting like DJJ signing with the Clippers was the worst thing, and then ask your viewers if what they see any holes or weaknesses on paper? I get it some people will be silly enough to say Kidd but they’re programmed by you guys to say he isn’t a good coach who needs to be fired. They’d still say that if the Mavs won against Boston in the Finals because they believe the witchcraft more than reality. I appreciate the show and as I said, scheduling doesn’t matter as much as health talent and depth.

Wow! A lot there. Spot on about lazy analysis. Dallas is being treated as a 5th place team that hit a streak in playoffs. Ok, let’s ignore the fact that Mavs team after trade deadline was completely different. They finished the year pacing at 60+ season win level. Then they proceed to play at that same level in playoffs. Sounds like there is proof to assume this team can get to 60 wins. And that’s before the changes they made this summer.

The easy schedule at the end of the year actually scares me a bit. I think tough stretches of games at the end helps simulate the playoffs and gets the team in the right mindset of doing whatever it takes to win. If too many of the games are easy, when the playoffs starts it’s like a whole new type of game and intensity that wasn’t there previously. Obviously I’m not worried about that affecting our top 3-4 guys but the other role players is what I worry about.
@Pjdmffl2 ай бұрын
True but it might also be a time to let Luka, Kai, Klay rest b4 playoffs. They didn’t get any of that this year

Excited for season to start and see if we are as good as we think and should be. 1st gotta be injury free. 2. Luka has to play at high level not necessarily as stat heavy as last season but he has to be our best player as he has been. 3. Irving, PJ, Naji, Grimes, Liv & Gafford need to have very solid consistent years. Last West is loaded and teams will play hot and some will suffer injuries that knock some of the shine off their team. IMO: Thunder, Celtics, Timberwolves, Nuggets, Bucks, Pacers, Grizzlies, Suns, Warriors, lakers, Knicks, Kings, Pelicans are going to be very good teams. And Rockets, Magic & Spurs are going to surprise a lot of teams. Going to be a great NBA season. Let's Go Mavs.

The weakest defensive player will not be Klay Thompson but will be Luka and Kyrie. Each player starts each game with a limited amount of energy that they use to play both offense and defense. Luka and Kyrie know that to finish games offensively at close to 100% energy they need to not wear themselves out playing defense. The solution is not expecting Klay to be the defensive stopper but to sub in Naji or Quentin early in the game for either Luka or Kyrie. Why do people think that Luka and Kyrie need to be in the games together at all times. They both can handle the ball and initiate the offense by themselves or with Spencer's help. Luka needs to decide which is more important to him, winning an NBA championship or playing thirty-five minutes per game. The clearest lesson from the Mavericks loss to the Celtics in five games is that Luka was just too beat up and in pain to perform at anything close to his ability. Luka, Kyrie, and Klay all need to average less than thirty minutes per game. This will do two things, save more of their energy to close games, and allow coach Kidd to give enough minutes to see what Naji, Quentin, Spencer, and Maxie can do both defensively and offensively. To see how the Mavericks can create a ten-man rotation that average over 130 points per game and hold opposition to around 110 points.

On back to backs do we consider not playing Kyrie one night and Luka the other? With our depth I think we can manage that and not try to break our stars

Dont care about the NBA cup. Prefer the Mavs have a little bit off rest.
@magnusolsson282 ай бұрын
The reason to win the NBA cup is because, the semifinals count as a win in the regular season. So you should win that game. And when you already have to play the final, you might just try to win that anyway.
@H0TS2 ай бұрын
Yeah but if you don't make the semifinals, you play other (presumably weaker) teams that didn't make the semifinals. Last year I think Portland and Utah got added in place of the semis and quarters. Those are better 81st and 82nd games than whoever you might face in the Cup, like a 4th game against OKC.

Please do a poll or episode of which teams the Mavs need a statement win against during the regular season. There are 3 teams in my mind who the Mavs need to beat in order to put down a marker on the league, and they're all from the East. 1. The Celtics, for obvious reasons, best team in the league, need to show how this new Mavs team is better equipped to take it to Boston, should they make it to the Finals again. 2. The Bucks. In our last 8 games, the Mavs have only won TWICE against Milwaukee. For context, in the last win against the Bucks back in 22', Dwight Powell got 22 PTS & 13 REB. A statement win over Giannis & Dame would go a long way. 3. The Sixers. Very high on this new trio of Embiid, Maxey & PG. Presents a really good test for the Mavs to beat a side that's got high expectations. Especially if all 3 are healthy;

OKC is the favorite in the West so that would be great. Also Luka could use some big wins vs Denver for his MVP case.

The problem the Mavs have most seasons is they have not shown the ability to put together a full season. That's why they are 4th and 5th seeds every year. If you want to get to 60, if you want to be a #1 seed, you have to put in a full season and start winning games, a lot of games, from the start. The Mavericks sometimes don't look like they are ready to play basketball until they are 40 games in and that isn't going to cut it if you want to win Championships.

My Venn diagrams are concentric. Love to see Slovenia play, but wanted them to lose. Want the Mavs to fail to make the John Deere Classic, f.k.a. the NBA Cup. Mavs’ (Luka’s) rest and recovery have been YUGE the last few seasons. Less is more!
