Parents have to teach STRANGER - DANGER which includes talking with people online. She was groomed for quite a while, by a man, posing as a 13 year old (as was her age), playing online games, then chats etc. He finally flew out to meet privately with her- a 40 year old man. Her parents did not contact authorities, but tried to handle it themselves, and almost lost her.

It's extremely difficult to build a stable financial life these days - to own a home, to save for retirement, to afford children. Housing prices are insane. Wages don't increase with inflation. Healthcare is an expensive mess. Many people under 30 who weren't born wealthy have mostly given up on all that. My then 13 year old son was playing his oculus and met someone who he thought was 14 in Gorilla tag. They started chating on discord too. I got suspicious immediately and went through his messages. Pushing "I think you're bi and you might like guys" in the first few messages, so i searched his gammer tag in a bunch of different social medias. Turns out he wasnt 14, he was 23. I immediately turned my sons phone over to the police but there wasn't anything they could do since there wasnt pictures exchanged.

Teach your kids, that no matter who you think you are talking to online, the fact of the matter is, they might not be who they say they are. It doesn't matter how long you've known them online, they could wait years to pounce and groom. Children must not fall into these traps. Trust no one online, ever!

Where's the warning about not letting your child be online without you right there? My son is 13 and we don't allow him to have a cell phone. There really is no need. It opens up the door for too many bad things. It's hard to tell your child no and go against culture, but these stories happen far too often. . .I hope she gets plenty of healing.

Please explain to your kids that bad people are out there trying to TRICK them. Groomers are predictable. Explain the steps they use to your kids 💔
