Dallas Willard - Postmodern Holiness

I would like to thank Dallas Willard Ministries for providing this lecture. I am a Brazilian Baptist, and I am conducting doctoral research on spirituality, with Mr. Willard's work as the focus and content of this article. I have learned a great deal from this man of God.

It is interesting to note how Dallas began his ministry with different results than the Christ and the Apostles were getting in the Gospel and the book of Acts and he dug into true spirituality and learned many of the things he teaches later. It is very telling as well how he didn’t become hyper charismatic but truly more about the gifts of the Spirit as he has taught on hearing Gods voice and an emphasis in his teaching on things he learned from studying classic Christian mystics no matter their denomination. He had realized that to not emphasize the power and presence of the Holy Spirit was to cut off One of the heads of God Himself. Shalom

Brother Dallas's explanation of Jesus's response to Peter at the end of John's Gospel, 21:15-19, is full of discerned wisdom of a man who knows Christ. This section of his talk would be well worth taking notes on for further reflection and prayer in my humble opinion.

Thank God for this and thanks DW Ministries for putting this up. This man always exemplified the truth that you take the best and leave the rest. I’ll never forget Richard Foster relating how Dallas, Southern Baptist, called him, a Quaker, to go hear an Episcopalian, Agnes Sanford?, at a Lutheran Church. Take the best and leave the rest. Best advice I ever heard. Just watched a video the other day on KZbin, Why I Left Christianity. Sad video. A former pastor was troubled by differences in doctrine and was convinced that this or that one was going to hell and it didn’t sit right with him. I know our God is not doing any such thing. Hell is reserved for those truly deserving it. Priests who rape little boys, perhaps. Not someone who trusts in Jesus and doesn’t celebrate Friday Saturday Shabbat.

@@tony1685Shabbat Shalom. It is a proven scientific fact, acc. to Pastor Joe Focht, that Friday/Saturday is optimal healing rest for the human body and he’s not SDA. Thank God Christ paid our sins debt. I’m not advocating we do a strict sabbath either. Just interesting and I’ve never seen Pastor Joe lie so I generally don’t bother double checking. I’ve tested him in the past…always on the money. CC Philly
