Thank you so much for posting this talk by Dr. Willard. It will help me get moving ahead with a project He has been preparing me for. I will bring you information about it in a few days. Thanks.

Often ideas needs carriers who take them in new dimensions of our world, perhaps you're in the position to do that.

This is a silly comment. Jesus and his disciples were all just Jewish men -- does that disqualify whatever Jesus taught? The focus should be on the content of the teaching.

@@MarkJoel1960 Perhaps you misunderstand me. I am a long time Dallas student and Renovare champion. What I am drawing attention to is that the body of Christ in North America is no longer led by men over 50 who have an Anglo background. If we want the message to go further we need to build bridges with those who are leading and serving now

@@Markph7, As stated earlier, perhaps not as gently. What are you doing to promote that? As a white male over 60 who listens to a white male over 50 preach weekly, I’m all in. Let me know how you are actively working to further your thoughts. If I see merit you will have gained a supporter and promoter. God Bless

Nothing in Scripture indicates we are to have a "conversational relationship" with God in the sense of expecting God to speak to us. The sufficiency of Scripture goes against this idea, for one thing. We trust God, learn his word, and rely on the illumination of Scriptures by the Holy Spirit.

This isn't true. Acts is full of instances where the apostles interacting with the Holy Spirit. Peter's famous vision of the sheet and forbidden food (Acts 10:9), Acts 6:6 where the Holy Spirit keeps Paul from travelling to Asia. Acts 6:9, The Holy Spirit gives Paul a dream about a man in Macedonia. Acts 8:29, where the Holy Spirit tells Philip to approach the chariot. The trinity is not The Father, Son, and Holy Bible. The Holy Spirit is alive and active in a believer's life. It never contradicts Scripture, it does not replace scripture, but the Holy Spirit is a real part of a Christian's life.

"My sheep hear my voice and they follow Me." "You will hear a voice behind you saying, 'This is the way, walk in it." "They shall all be taught by God." "He will lead you into all truth..." And Scripture teaches a ton on prayer which is conversation. Whatever church told you God doesn't want a conversational relationship with you has done you a great disservice.
