Done! Your video helped me tremendously. Almost the whole process was done blindfolded, I would never knew that last bolt is a size torx E8. Going in from the top isn't a good option unless you remove the cat. Removing the first heat shield for the axle wasn't necessary, but you really need long hand and slim forearm. I also used the back of a screw to remove the locking clip on the sensor (I practiced with other clips in the engine bay before going down blind).

Have same issue. Slow start, battery and alternator good. Rattle noise at cold start up, change the taiming chain tensioner, and stop the rattle noise. Wondering if this late start comes from a jumped chain due to using bad tensioner for a prolong time. . . Where can i see the links of cam positions Best !! Great video and explanation !

Sorry Brother but a P0016 & neighboring code numbers are timing codes on practically every engine in the world, I would not have changed the CKP sensor, I would have told the owner up front he was chasing the wrong symptom and a misunderstanding of the code. This is typically a timing code for stretched chain, VVT Solenoid issue, VVT Actuator issue, slipped cam pulse wheel and slipped cam if it has press-on parts, all related to timing in the VVT realm, not a CKP sensor. BUT I do understand that this deal is on the owner, if he diagnosed it down to a sensor and 2 hours labor, then its up to him as the job would come with no warranty without my own diag and diag fee. At the end of the video now I understand the WHY for the story, cheaper labor in Africa and a free diag from you if you gave the timing issue information. I Exported cars from Japan for a little while, I lived there for 20 years, to a different part of the world so I completely understand his reasoning. It's even nicer when you can fit 6 medium-sized vehicles into a shipping container instead of only 4 based on size.

@@DallasAutoDiag the Merc I went to want 212$CAD/hour. the part is 106. that's about 850 after taxes 🤧 I'm thinking maybe to do it from the top this weekend, removing airbox and a heat shield (I'll try to not touch the Cat, bolts are all rusted). more parts to remove, but bolts and nuts might be easier accessible. fingers crossed 😄

Didn’t you change the crank shaft sensor ,? Because the code is for a CAM shaft sensor , which is a different sensor

hello, idk with engine u have. but replace the camshaft sensor. Mostly 2 of it, intake and outtake camshaft sensor. Normally its easy to do. good luck.

M276 V6 and M278 V8 have the same issues. I wish Mercedes would quit buying camshafts from 3rd world countries.
