Scott, keep up the great work! I've learned a lot from your videos over the past few weeks and plan to use some of your tips to make my car look great again. Could you make a flow chart diagram that shows all of your steps to "detail/correct paint" on a car that is a daily driver that hasn't been taken care of properly. I know you can't account for all of the different situations out there. I want to detail my car and correct the paint and start taking better care of my car. I've seen these charts from some companies but they don't go into the details of what products, pads, cleaners, towels, waxes, sealants, tricks etc that I need to use. Thought I'd found a solution to the problem I had getting a Renew Protect product off the gray plastic panels of a Honda Element only to find Wash Plus has been DISCONTINUED in the US. I ended up using a strong mix of Griot's Foaming Surface Prep in a spray bottle and a lot of elbow grease. I learned it's not a good idea to use a cheap ceramic product of the Element panels.

good concept, i think what id do is wash the car first with a traditional method to remove all the loose dirt. then "polish" using this stuff. and follow up with a wax. might try this on my dad's old subaru

I have used Dawn soap for a very very long time before and after compound and polish. On my own car before I am going to put a new coat of wax on my car I wash it with Dawn soap then wash it with Meguiar’s Gold Class soap, dry, hand glaze and then apply Meguiar’s ultimate liquid wax or Meguiar’s Gold Class Carnauba.

Just got a new car, not so new, but took it for a car wash. I come and touch the car, I feel little bumps all over. I am thinking the car wash should have taken care of all impurities on my car, right? Nope, little did I know about clay barring the car to get rid of bonded contaminants. After using clay bar, the surface was smooth, then I tried to polish and wax it. I did a horrible job of it. I want to do it right, so hence watching this video to correct my work that I worked so hard for, doing it all wrong.

Microfiber has little extensions at the end of each visible strand that act like little claws and pick up dirt like nothing else, so your method works in combination to this special formula soap. It would be different if you used a different fiber, moving dirt around.

The other method apparently is to clay bar it off, a lot of work though. If your car is in good shape you're just polishing the clear-coat, not the paint layer anyway. The only way to remove wax is with some kind of (gentle) abrasive action, or let it get old and fall off, while the paint is exposed to the environment.

So as long as you clay bar the car it would be the same thing? I applied the ice wax on my brand new car but I want to ceramic coat the car. So following chemical guys recommendation will be a clay bar before polishing then ceramic so was wondering.

Beautiful ❤, I bought Maguires wax ..installed on wax my truck and found that it like didn’t want to completely come off (oily, residue, ). left and oily film. ????…I think it’s because I was using the Maguires spray on afterwash ceramic coating.. I’m going to use the stripper and re-wax it. Thank you for the tips.

How would I get auto glym seal off my windscreen ? Window wipers are juddering like hell when it rains and garage said it's the sealant on the window that's causing it. Tried rubbing spirits on it and still the same. So annoying..

It's amazing how many products are on the market now such as polishes, polish-soaps, wash&wax, wax, liquid wax, paste wax, etc..Makes me dizzy...I was looking at a few 2016-2017 Mazda3s recently and they all had many chips in the paint. Mazda paint & clear coat seems to be extremely thin. The clear coat on my Honda Civic peeled off too.

i worked on petroleum ships and barges for years...dawn soap is known as "the tankerman's friend",used to disperse minute spills and hose drips in the water around manifold connections...great degreaser.

Scott, I think you're spot on with this. I set out today to do my first paint correction. Got the Chemical Guys Clean Slate out and it would NOT take 5 1/2 old Liquid Glass Ultimate off the car. Had to wash it several times, then paint prep followed by clay and then more paint prep. I will definitely try this the next time. I may take the extra step of a regular wash first just to remove the loose contaminants.

I understand what you are aiming at here, and that's great, but a proccess like this is confusing to me. Use the Meguiar's Wash Plus + a clay lube that has a wax in it+ then use a rustolium eraser....????? I'm looking for a spray lube with no waxes or shines or any of that, to get virgin bare paint that will take care of those contaminants and then apply a polish and sealent.....what happend to the Armorall Ultra Shine for clay lube? How about drying, so we don't get water spots, without scratching?

It came in my.country finaly....at 14 euro.....some pro detailers are refering that in this shoap testing they notishing (under very intensive proffesional indoor lighting many microscratching in the.paint....maybe not from the shoap but from the dust wich was ruubing in the.paint even they had prerinsed off..........can you verify this?????...........even this is trye it is the best.shoap before correction and if the paint is.already scratched..i think

Scott I am a novice detailer and I have a customer with a 2017 red Ford fusion and his car is real porous (rough) to the touch. By rubbing a baggie over it you can feel the roughness in the paint. Question Scott (step 1) should I was the car prior to doing this technique and then clay bar (clay magic blue) the complete car? (Step 2) Do I then use Duplicolor Grease And Wax Remover to make the clear coat virgin again? )Step 3) Scott what waxes or sealant would you recommend me to use on this vehicle. This sounds great, but I really don't get his this is possible. I keep trying to wrap my head around it but it just doesn't add up. For example, when you are washing a car, they tell you in order for you to have the least amount of scratches on a car, you should rinse your mitt (assuming you are using 2 bucket method), every couple of wipes, or at least every panel to remove the dirt trapped in your mitt. However you are supposed to use circle motions with this Megs stuff, and you are supposed to press hard, while using a mitt that has dirt/dust embedded in it. ......How does that make sense. I get what you are trying to say, what if the Megs is over powering the dirt. Well how many people out there go and "polish their car" with a DA and Buff pad without first Washing the car. People dont do that why, cause youll get the pad filled with dirt and you will be creating scratches as you try to remove them, really counter productive. Essentially though, this is what you are doing with this soap. If it works and is not scratching the paint, thats awesome, but I dont know. This is like worse then Water less washing. I could be wrong of course, but somehow I dont want to test it on my paint.
