Here's an idea. If you have a camera like this and you're about to take it on a risky adventure how about recording a short video of who you are and how to contact you in case you lose it and someone else finds it. Or is that too easy that no one thinks about doing it?

Whether it be a go pro or a digital still camera, the very first photo you should take and never delete is a picture of your contact info on a piece of paper in case it’s lost.

Right at 5:09 the kayak on the right , it’s bow bumps the “GoPro kayak”. Right at that point you could zoom in on the serial number on it. It is just behind a lanyard or something. Then call the rental company

DALLMYD I have an idea on how you can find the owner. On your video at 3:09 you can see the number on the woman's boat. Contact Ginnie Springs and give them the date of the recording and the boat number and they should be able to put you in contact with the person or people involved. They should have records of everyone that has rented anything from them..

I tried going treasure hunting in the Mississippi for the first time today with my friends. It is cool to know your taking trash from the river, and still getting some stuff to use yourself. I really enjoy it, and i recommend it to anybody who hasn't done it.

With the whole website for finding lost valuables, be careful if you get any requests to dive into the Ohio River, please don't. That thing is toxic as heck and I'd prefer you just treat that river like a void and preserve your health.

I lost a GoPro while out on the boat at the Poor Knights Islands here in New Zealand, I've tried looking for it everytime we go out there for a dive but I think it's gone forever 😢 in saying that, you should definitely come check it out, it's an incredibly spot especially in summer! Go on Instagram and search the location of the river or maybe the company that rents out the kayaks if that’s the case and scroll back to around the date of when the GoPro was lost and see if you can find the selfie the girl took at like 5:15 or so. May take a while though.

Try to pick up sponsors with the Gear you already use. Companies love supporting customers that already use their equipment and want to keep using them. Your dive suit, dive knife, cameras, Sunglasses, hell the computer mouse and keyboard. I've heard many other KZbinr's suggest to do the same!
