You could also look at it as someone who played half a season but especially coming back from head injuries and questioning his retirement to help lead the knights from bottom 8 to top 5 with 10 in a row wins and another form for himself, at least he deserves the accolades and didn't go to someone who didn't.

SJ more consistent but Ponga was 11 out of 10 during the Knights winning streak. He basically beat the first man every time he touched the ball. I honestly thought he might win knowing how the voting works. I am a Knights fan but😁

Obviously you don’t get it. Doesn’t matter how many games you play, Dally m is based on Points per game system where Ponga scored most of his teams points during their win streak where as Fonua Blake would’ve taken some points away from SJ this season

People commenting not understanding why SJ lost , but realistically the dally M voting system is flawed in favour of players who are superstars in a team without any other big names , nobody can take points away from ponga in that Newcastle team , where as the warriors had multiple standouts this year in , fonua Blake , charnze , Wayde egen , dallin to name a few

No doubt KP was the best player in his team. But that’s the point - he was the best player in an average team and thus he clearly stood out every time his team played. You have to be like that to get a look in (eg: Nicho and Drinkwater) But if you are a player in a great team surrounded by excellent teammates, you really dont have a look in (eg: no Bronc player got within 10 points of KP and only Cleary of the Panthers did). The voting system is clearly broken. KP was excellent this year but as a No.1. When he played No.6 in the 1st part of the season he was average at best. SJ was great the whole year round but as the Wahs got better, DWZ, AFN, TH all took votes away from him. The system needs to be fixed. Let all players get rated every game and then aggregate the scores to determine the winner. It’s the most sensible way to determine who is the best player in that season.

Bro knights have some good players and alot of their players are clearly improving. Could name maybe one or two players in the whole roster who underperformed this season, players like Leo Thompson and Crossland vastly improved and are good players.
